Organised by The R&A and USGA, the Walker Cup has been a highlight of the amateur game since the inaugural match between Great Britain & Ireland and the United States in 1922. The Americans have largely dominanted the event, but GB&I have been formidable in recent years on home soil.
The likes of Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood have all played in the Walker Cup during their early years, underlining that the competitors involved often become stars in the future.
