The Open Championship Venues

By: Golfshake Editor | Thu 12 Jul 2018

It's an exciting few years ahead for The Open Championship. In 2018, the game's oldest major stops at the formidable Carnoustie for an eighth occasion, before the event makes a welcome return to Northern Ireland's Royal Portrush in 2019, following an absence of 68 years. Venturing to Kent for the 2020 Championship at Royal St. George's, the Old Course at St. Andrews will be the venue for the historic 150th Open in 2021.

Each of these venues on the Open rotation have their own distinct identity, making every Championship that bit extra special. These layouts boast a rich heritage and tradition, and shine a light on the spectacular links that exist throughout the United Kingdom, from the coastlines of Ayrshire and East Lothian, to the majesty of Southport and England's North West.

Historic Prestwick was the birthplace of the Open Championship. That's where the story began, and we're taking the opportunity to celebrate each of the famous courses that have witnessed a player become Champion Golfer of the Year.
