What the club says: The Deal course is traditionally laid out on a narrow stretch of land extending to Sandwich Bay, and the natural links terrain has been subtly used to provide a wide variety of challenges. On almost every hole there is an abundance of large sand dunes which establishes the undulating character of the course and makes it unique. Unlike most other courses the fairways are just as undulating and it is seldom that a completely flat stance can be obtained other than on the tees. As with all traditional seaside links, the wind is a major factor which has to be taken into account when deciding on club and shot selection.

Over Rated/Poor quality
As the title suggests this course/club is poor at best. Recently visited with a society and treated as 2nd class citizens. I’m a member at a prestigious Surrey member’s club myself and I’m astounded as to what they’re charging here. The course was okay, although the greens were no better than the fairways, our pro/shop greeting was surly and dour, with the culinary delights as tasty as the bar service….poor!I found out whilst there that they were charging £185 for a round, in the afternoon! Quite how they get to that figure is beyond me. It’s worth £65 at best and no more. The food was tasteless and cold, water in showers was of similar temperature. Fortunately we also played at Royal St George’s and witnessed the complete other end of the spectrum although yet to play Princes but looks of similar quality to RSG. Don’t waste time/money at Cinque Ports, you’ll be very dissatisfied.Reviewer Rating

Very Disappointed
Can’t believe how poor this place is. I understand all the links blurb, small stretch of land, traditional links etc, but this course is really living off its neighbours. Clearly the poor neighbour of RSG and now Princes, this course is quite some way being the other two. Avoid playing this at all costs as simply not worth the money. A local Kent municipal is better.Reviewer Rating

Best Course I've ever played!
Beautiful traditional links course on the South East Coast of the UK. Steeped in history, this former Open Venue was my chosen location for a birthday treat! Not sure that the course justifies the £185 green fee but it was most definitely in amazing condition! They probably price it high to protect the course and offer value for money against it's next door neighbour (Royal St Georges).
The driving range was a treat to play off grass rather than mats but the fact that you had to pay for the balls left a bitter taste after shelling out for the green fee! The balls weren't great but at least there was somewhere to warm up.
The Pro shop is very well stocked with lots of products with the club logo for souvenirs.
The half way house was great with good food and drink!
The course itself is lovely perfectly manicured fairways and greens with easily playable whispy rough winding its way along the classic track. Go any further in though and you'll be looking for your ball for hours in deep grass! It honestly is the best kept course I've every played.
If you are like me and love a Links Challenge, this is one of the very best! Treat yourself and get caddy unless you have GPS because there are a few blind(ish) tee shots to hit and hope!

Wonderful experience
This course is a links classic and in my view at least the equal of its prestigious Open-hosting next door neighbour. In excellent condition despite recent irrigation work it is a wonderful challenge and the last six holes into the wind one of UK golf's great experiences. The mandatory half way house stop for liquid and solid sustenance is to be looked forward too. Thankfully proud of its traditions, the atmosphere on the course and in the clubhouse is relaxed without dropping standards. To those who love links and tradition, play here.Reviewer Rating

overdue entry to world's best 100
Reflecting on the ongoing significant investment, attention to detail and striving to improve a genuinely world class course the links at Deal goes from strength to strength. It has improved measurably every year in the 10 that I have been playing it, which is a very significant achievement when you start with one of the best courses in the country. New practice facilities are also on a par with the course.Reviewer Rating

Proper stuff
Quintessential links golf. Proper clubhouse fare. A wonderful half-way house with splendid food. For the golf it’s a proper course with a toughfinishing stretch from the moment that one turns for home at the 12th. Nicely expensive for visitors to keep everything in good order. The only blot would be the practice facility with it a touch on the short side at a shade over 350 yards in length - makes it a tad cramped for some chaps.

Absolute Coastal Gem
A sunny June day with strong winds, deemed normal by the locals! This is a beautifully presented classic links course that lives up to the hype. It starts with a straight par 4 but the remainder of the course can leave you feel battered and bruised. The greens run smooth and quick; the fairways are undulating with many blind shots; and the off centre hits can be penalised in very long rough (that's if you find it within 3 minutes). Good bar and service.(Round played: Jun 2019 - Score: 93 Handicap: 13.4)

Brilliant links course .. Must play
Played Royal St Georges the day before and yet this course is every bit as good. The wind is behind you the first 11 odd holes , but the last 6 are into the wind and play 2-3 extra clubs. The Open has been played here twice and you can see why. The course could still take The Open but maybe the infrastructure wouldn't cope which is a real shame. Get yourself down to Deal.Reviewer Rating

Excellent course
A classic links in excellent condition, the last 7 holes into the wind must be one of golf's toughest finishes Limited sea views if you need them but a more enjoyable course in my view than St Georges. Very friendly club house.(Round played: Dec 2018 - Score: 86 Handicap: 12.1)

Condition was excellent, recovered well from the summer, bunkers neatly rivetted, greens and surrounds have some massive undulations. Not nearly as narrow off the tee as I imagined, the first and second cuts are very sensible. Only a couple of genuinely blind shots, it’s very comparable to St George’s whilst somewhat less hilly. Yardage’s clear, signposted well.
I’d love to see an extra par 5and par 3 on the back nine, and I’m sure I’m not the first to suggest it but suspect the club is proud of being known for its brutal into the wind finish, 6 out of 7 par 4’s over 400 off the yellow. The problem is that you may find those holes become a little indistinct in your memory with just one long par 3 in between them. I’d also like to see several of the yellow tees raised at least a couple of feet, would make a huge difference to the visitor trying to picture the hole from the tee. One grumble that has been mentioned and must be rectified, why are visitors parking in a muddy field? It’s at odds with the warm welcome we were otherwise given.
Overall, under rated on here. There aren’t 115 better courses in the UK, it’s almost certainly top 20,
