What the club says: Stonelees isn't the only golf centre with 23 holes of well-manicured golf. However, it is rare for a 23-hole facility to have three distinctly different golf courses, with each one built specifically for a certain level of golfer:
* Par 3 course for beginners and juniors.
* The Executive Course for Intermediate or "average" golfers which has seven par-3s and two par-4s.
* The Heights Course for Low handicapers, a full-length nine holes with two superb par-5s.

Very friendly with all the features needed at very competitive rates.Good place to meet friends and make more friends. Most regulars are known by first name. Excellent junior encouragement. My Grandson started here at 6 years old and now at 11, plays for Kent.

The course is a tad hilly and the greens are varied, meaning some holes are either very fast or very slow.
There are a number of waterways and the rough are very rough indeed'.
Tight lies and playing with the ball below your feet are standard and demanding.

A couple of problems

The situation of the range fence should have solved by now, also the GUR around the course from the insertion of the electric cable just seems to be going on and on, and has scared the course.. thecexclusion of the buggies is understandable but for us disabled players it causes a real problem. So my scores are for now not what it was.

Friendly Golf Centre

We like using Stonelees as it has everything for the budding golfer, I am always amazed at the quality of the course considering the use it gets especially the greens. The 'Heights' course is deceptively challenging but always fun. Great bar with food and friendly staff, and an American Golf center if you want to refresh any of your Kit.

This course is challenging. looks simple as its mostly a par3. But with bunkers . streams lakes and of course trees, its quite trying. First 3 holes has water included which is always a pleasure!!! its a nice size for a novice player,

Great little course. Shame it’s not 18 holes, instead it’s 9 hole that you play twice.

Nice course to play on but easy to lose a ball or two. Interesting course with only a couple of straight fairways.

Three nines - all good for different players

I've played many rounds at Stonelees, from happy times on the par 3 nine with my then six-year-old son, to great fun on the (slightly more difficult) Executive nine, with its mix of par 3's and fours as our games improved. The later is pretty benign, but not a walkover, with shots over water testing the nervous on four holes, and, on the fifth, a long par four, a very narrow fairway with water all down the left. It's good preparation for The Heights. This nine is NOT for beginners. It's a full length course with daunting tee shots on nearly every hole. Good placement of your drive is essential, and the ability to shape the ball both ways off the tee would be a distinct advantage, none more so than on the frightening par 5 fifth. You've got water 180 yards in front of you to catch a mishit drive, plus water all down the left. And the landing area slopes from right to left down to...that's right. More water. The greens are well guarded so your short game will be tested, and the dancefloors are usually in excellent condition. It's a brilliant course (the view from the elevated seventh tee of the fairway stretching out in front of you is one of my favourites anywhere) with very reasonable green fees and - usually (social distancing notwithstanding) - a 'no booking rquired' policy. I like all three nines and can heartily recommend it. It's not a links, despite being near the sea, and just a mile from some of the most famous links in the world, but does share some characteristics (rolling fairways, wind usually a factor). What it is is a terrific place whether you're a beginner or much more experienced.
