Over Rated/Poor quality

As the title suggests this course/club is poor at best. Recently visited with a society and treated as 2nd class citizens. I’m a member at a prestigious Surrey member’s club myself and I’m astounded as to what they’re charging here. The course was okay, although the greens were no better than the fairways, our pro/shop greeting was surly and dour, with the culinary delights as tasty as the bar service….poor!I found out whilst there that they were charging £185 for a round, in the afternoon! Quite how they get to that figure is beyond me. It’s worth £65 at best and no more. The food was tasteless and cold, water in showers was of similar temperature. Fortunately we also played at Royal St George’s and witnessed the complete other end of the spectrum although yet to play Princes but looks of similar quality to RSG. Don’t waste time/money at Cinque Ports, you’ll be very dissatisfied.

Very Disappointed

Can’t believe how poor this place is. I understand all the links blurb, small stretch of land, traditional links etc, but this course is really living off its neighbours. Clearly the poor neighbour of RSG and now Princes, this course is quite some way being the other two. Avoid playing this at all costs as simply not worth the money. A local Kent municipal is better.

A great golf course, even having played in a down pour. The only downside was being asked to park in a muddy field , treating visitors like that is not at all welcoming. The path runs out at the end of the clubhouse and you are wading through mud and puddles to get to your car

Slightly disappointed in the condition of the course, greens needed a trim but rest of the course played well as a traditional Links. Some challenging holes and very well contoured greens. Clubhouse very traditional and full of history - staff were very accomodating with the only downside being a very grumpy man at the halfway house / cargo container. Would recommend it but if you were paying that sort of money I would consider Princes Golf club first as the Dunes and Shore have what Royal Cinque Ports is lacking in length, technicality and condition. Great course nontheless

Excellent course

A classic links in excellent condition, the last 7 holes into the wind must be one of golf's toughest finishes Limited sea views if you need them but a more enjoyable course in my view than St Georges. Very friendly club house.

Friendly greeting from the pro and staff got things off to a good start. Nice grass range although perhaps need better quality practice balls at this end of the market, good short game area which is now being extended. Course is near enough out and back, plenty still recognisable from the two Open championships the course held a century ago, you should spend at least an hour absorbing the history posted around the clubhouse.
Condition was excellent, recovered well from the summer, bunkers neatly rivetted, greens and surrounds have some massive undulations. Not nearly as narrow off the tee as I imagined, the first and second cuts are very sensible. Only a couple of genuinely blind shots, it’s very comparable to St George’s whilst somewhat less hilly. Yardage’s clear, signposted well.
I’d love to see an extra par 5and par 3 on the back nine, and I’m sure I’m not the first to suggest it but suspect the club is proud of being known for its brutal into the wind finish, 6 out of 7 par 4’s over 400 off the yellow. The problem is that you may find those holes become a little indistinct in your memory with just one long par 3 in between them. I’d also like to see several of the yellow tees raised at least a couple of feet, would make a huge difference to the visitor trying to picture the hole from the tee. One grumble that has been mentioned and must be rectified, why are visitors parking in a muddy field? It’s at odds with the warm welcome we were otherwise given.
Overall, under rated on here. There aren’t 115 better courses in the UK, it’s almost certainly top 20,

Gem of a course

Some very good holes in a lovely spot. Course runs alongside seafront for first 9 holes where lots of kids were running/walking and making a lot of noise.

The course played very well. The greens were in great condition and ran true
. The fairways are very narrow with a lot of undulations. There were a few bunkers that were ground under repair to them being repaired but the others were good with plenty of sand.

classic links and like most classic links difficult when the wind is strong, as it was when I played. It's straight out and back, wind behind on the way out. I hit the 486 yard par 5 3rd in 2 (driver, 9 iron) but I was struggling to reach the endless succession of 400 yard par 4's on the way in despite hitting driver
