What the club says: Scene of some of the most memorable moments in Open history, the Ailsa championship course is a legend in the world game. But it’s not only the world’s best that can enjoy a round here. Every year, thousands of golfers of all abilities enjoy the thrill of playing an Open Championship course that’s open to all. Naturally, our guests benefit from preferential tee times on both the Ailsa and our other superb championship course, the Kintyre.
the Lodges are a little dated carpets may need renewing however the beds were outstanding had a great nights sleep. The main hotel was out of this world as was the club house. The staff could not do enough for you. Both courses we excellent very intimidating but cosmetically stunning however very playable one of my rounds was one of the best I have played this year would pay again at the drop of a hat.
Enjoyed the new set up and had the benefit of playing the course on a day where the wind was manageable and the rain wasn't there after we putted out on the 2nd green
(Round played: Oct 2017 - Score: 84 Handicap: 11.5)
Played the Ailsa and King Robert The Bruce at the weekend and it was brilliant.
From the moment you arrive at the venue it looks fantastic with the hotel and lodges on one side of the road and the courses and practice facilities on the other side.
Staff are courteous and friendly and cant do enough to help.
The Clubhouse, Pro Shop and facilities are out of this world and the best I have ever seen.
The Ailsa is visually stunning and despite having some rain on the front nine it did not detract from the experience in the slightest.
We played off the white tees and although a challenge the course was fantastic with every hole different.
Robert the Bruce is not in the same bracket as Ailsa however it would stand up on its own as being well worth playing.
Overall a weekend that I wont forget and well worth the 600 mile round trip and 5 hour car journey each way to get there.
If you get the chance to play it then don't miss the opportunity.
I was lucky enough to play the 2010 at Celtic Manor last month and that is not in the same league as Turnberry.
(Round played: Sep 2017 - Score: 79 Handicap: 10.1)
The Lighthouse is used as a halfway house. It is the best halfway house in the world. The view alone is stunning
(Round played: May 2017 - Score: 98 Handicap: 19)
(Round played: Apr 2017 - Score: 91 Handicap: 14.5)
Can't fault the incredible facilities at Turnberry where no expense has been spared however, it was unfortunate that the competition we played was on a composite of the Kintyre and the Arran, 14 of one and 4 of the other and not on the Ailsa. No matter, an excellent days golf on superb Scottish links and a great experience.
(Round played: Apr 2017 - Score: 93 Handicap: 19.1)
that said its in great condition and well worth a visit, cant wait until the Kintyre course is ready to give it a go.
All in all a great day with great facilities.
