What the club says: Royal Troon (Old): One of the great links courses in Scotland, the Old Course at Royal Troon has hosted the Open Championship on nine occasions. A gentle opening few holes and a relatively straightforward closing stretch are the bookends for a series of holes which weave up, round and through some of the most striking linksland. Accurate shot making is essential.

Royal Troon (Portland): Originally designed by Willie Fernie, winner of the Open Championship in 1883, the Portland Course was opened in 1895 and subsequently redesigned by Dr Alister MacKenzie in the early 1920s. Although a little shorter than its illustrious neighbour, the beautifully manicured Portland Course provides a true links challenge.

Royal Troon (Craigend): The Craigend Course consists of nine par 3 holes and the small greens present a series of tricky targets. The course is utilised mainly by Junior Players and a few elderly Members. It provides a perfect setting for relaxed family golf.

Fantastic Course

This course is really beautiful. I played it on a sunny autumn afternoon with only light breezes. The green complexes are well laid out and the condition of the fairway turf and greens is excellent.
Most holes are reachable for mid / high handicappers, and this adds to the enjoyment of your round.
Care has to be taken, as the railway runs adjacent to some holes, and there is a fair amount of gorse around some approaches. The views all around are fantastic, and I played well despite encountering trouble in 2 bunkers. I looked over to Royal Troon, but couldn't help thinking that I was on the right course for me. I hope to play this course again soon.

I have always looked forward to a game here. In general i was not disapointed.playing of forward tees as a scratch golfer was unfulfilling.very short.bunkers were fiendish and sand in them was badly raked.dispriportuonate sand in the bunkers.really liked the layout .didnt think too difficult and greens were very nice for october.green fees way to high for a game of golf.thought staff in clubhouse were ok. They have high standards they want to keep.wouldnt go back unless i recieved a free game

As ever, a tough course and deep bunkers which are hard to,recover from. Great experience to play the course just weeks ahead of the Open Championship.

Amazing course in an great location with endless views and love walking in the footsteps of all the tradition here. The course was in great condition when we played, the fairways were cut tight, with a long first cut and unforgiving gorse, the greens were firm but fair. They allowed some shots to hold the green and played well. This course has an amazing amount of bunkers and undulating fairways. The staff at the course was very friendly and accommodating to every need. there is a practice facility down the road a bit from the course which you may need to drive to after you check in. The price tag is bit high for this course which is probably a representation of its name and history at the course
