The Best
Just love playing The Old Course. Played off mat because of the winter rules, but personally that doesn't take away from the experience.Everything about the place brings me so much joy. Following the footsteps of the golfing greats.
Out and back and aiming everything left, the conditions was superb and the sun made it an even better experience.
Defo something all golfers should experience, once in their life.

Bucket List #1
For my 60th Birthday we travelled in storm Darragh up to St. Andrews on Sat 7th December. I registered in the singles ballot on Sunday 8th dreaming of an Old Course round on my 60th. 4pm, text received, 9:50 tee time granted for Mon 9th.. success and panic.. a quick visit to driving range to blow away travel cobwebs. Mon morning, breakfast or not.. first tee nerves.. met playing partners and caddie.. we were off, a gentle breeze and no clouds! 3 putt bogey on 1st but who cares, it’s the Old Course. Nothing was going to spoil my day, even the crow on 10 who stole my chocolate bar from my bag. A par, par finish and I was in heaven. #1 on my bucket list had been ticked off and IT IS A VERY SPECIAL PLACE!! thank you ????Reviewer Rating

Played the fantastic Jubilee course at St Andrews links.
As usual the course was in tip top condition. As it’s winter there were fairway mats in use for shots in the fairway.
I’m well used to this as I live in St Andrews and have been using mats for years.
The weather was nice if not a wee bit cold at times. ( it’s February and it’s Scotland so we’re used to it )
You never get a bad lie on a mat !!
The greens were in terrific condition, especially given the amount of rain over the last couple of months.
The Jubilee is one of my favourite courses on the links and I love it.
Highly recommended.

Magical
Played an unexpected round at the Home of Golf on the Old Course. This time of year, you have to play of mats, which is a shame but still a great experience. Playing in the low season makes it more affordable but still a hefty fee of £150.Reviewer Rating

Proper Links
Anyone concerned that if you don't play the Old you don't get the St Andrews experience should play the Eden. From check in to finish it just feels special and the course runs immediately alongside the old for some of its length so you are effectively on the same ground.Reviewer Rating

Stunning links/clifftop course
The Castle course is not a traditional St. Andrews links but boy is it exhilarating. Yes there are a few holes which feel the same but the semi-blind tee shots, rollercoaster greens and North Sea backdrop make this a thrill a minute golf course. You need to use your course guide well to pick lines and yardages off the tee. You barely get a flat stance even on the greens but everything about the Castle course is challenging, exciting and throught provoking. Standout holes include all the par 5 holes, the par 3 17th over the cliffs and par 4 6th hole. If you go to St Andrews, make sure you pay the Castle course a visit.Reviewer Rating

A long walk
The views from the course are stunning but it's a long walk and taking a buggy would be a good idea. The greens are still very tricky and in some cases it is difficult to get the ball near the hole even when the green. Too many Swales and slopes in my view.Reviewer Rating

Not quite the Old course but it will have to do
Started very misty and played 1st 3 holes next to 13th, 14th and 15th of the olf course. Plenty more gorse on Eden and no double greens. Plenty of interesting pot bunkers and back to faster greens greens. Not quite as quick as 1st 2 days but faster enough. 3wd has deserted me today. My most consistant club over the last 4 days.....the Driver!Reviewer Rating

Out of this world!
Very lucky to play the Old course in benign conditions at the end of March late in the day.Words will struggle to describe how special this place is and what it is like to actually play a course which is likely at the top of every golfers bucket list to play. As you would expect the experience & conditions were exceptional; from the greetings of the staff, the facilities, standing on the first tee and the conditions throughout. Whilst we played at the very end of the off peak season, with winter mats in play, this did not detract from the round, particularly if you missed the fairway by a few yards where mats are not actually needed. The whole course was first-class and we probably also lucked out, not only with the still conditions, but also the fact that the rough is cut back at this time of year making any shot missing the fairway not too perilous.
The course was a joy to play and offered a nice mix of fun, challenging and unique holes and we were aided in our round by the benefit of playing with a local who provided valuable insight in where to aim, what to avoid and the hazards you couldn't see - like the seven sisters on the 5th which make up over 100 bunkers which are best to be avoided! I've no doubt when the wind gets up this can be an extremely tough course but the course isn't there to destroy your game but there to let you know what a great game this is if you play the course as you find it and give it the respect it deserves.
With many shared greens and shared fairways to a degree, along with a few cross over points it never felt like you were too close to any other groups nor at risk from other golfers despite the course being full.
Too sum up, if you can, simply, just go and play it! The history, the town, the views, the Open, the course - this is the Home of Golf and simply a wonderful place to visit and a course simply out of this world that every golfer should experience at least once in their lifetime.
