Stapleford Abbotts Golf Course is not in a good condition. The rough is plentiful, thigh high and wrist-breakingly thick. The fairways are narrow, and currently leaves are making it hard to find the ball.
The brambles around the bases of the trees make it impossible to play a ball even if you can see it.
It is a place to avoid for golf.

Couse currently going through remedial work and 3 longest holes dhortened by 150/200 yards as well as one of the par threes. A lot of work to be done.

Played the Priors course which unfortunately was in a shocking state. Front 9 was ok but the back 9 was a mess. Seems to be lots of building work going on and some of the previously interesting par 5's have been shortened to 300 yards. Shame as it used to be a fun little course to play.

Nice course with some temporary tees. Lack of any yardage markers cost shots which was a shame

i was looking forward to playing here but after ariving we found out they are doing a lot of work around the course .

This is a lovely parkland course. Greens are very good, but deceptively slow, think about how hard you have to HIT your putt, then hit it harder!
Better course if played off the white tees. They are doing some landscaping work at the moment. This means some of the holes are shorter than the scorecard shows.
Well worth playing if you are in the area.

Played here on a nice sunny day. This is a relatively short course with a lot of right to left doglegs. Driver is likely to run out of room on most of these (as I finally figured out half way round). Water hazards and bunkers are well placed. Sand in the bunkers was of poor quality but there had been a deluge overnight so that probably didn't help. I'd recommend this place for high handicappers as most par 4s would be gettable in 2. Beware that the course doesn't return to the vicinity of the clubhouse until the 18th so bring plenty of drinks with you as there is nowhere to top up.

Overnight rain made the course very wet, yet again. The club will allow you to play on the course, and trolleys are not banned. The dryer end to the week should help the course

This was the public course that we played and not the Club course further up the road. The course itself is quite good but a bit disappointed with the reception facilities which is a Portakabin. Still enjoyed our game.
