What The Club Says
The 18 hole, par 71 championship golf course measures 6,361 yards. The layout is typical of that from the world renowned golf course architect Harry Colt, known for course designs such as Wentworth, Sunningdale and Royal Portrush.
Laid out in 1936 the course offers a great challenge with gently undulating fairways lined with trees. The greens always present a true putting surface and are framed by trees or landscaped mounds with many of them being protected by the cleverly placed bunkers to catch the wayward approach shot. The course consists of two loops of nine holes enabling golfers to start and finish their rounds near the clubhouse.

Just needs a lttle extra.......
Played here on 29th May 2026 with 2 friends. From the balcony enjoying a morning Tea the course looked great. This however changed as we started our round. The tee boxes were looking a bit tired and the fairways were quite dry.The greens were alright albeit apart from a few bobbles near the hole????.The layout was a highlight and some of the wildlife is fantastic.
This course would be truely great with a bit of time and money spent on it.Well worth a visit but there is plenty to choose from locally

Lovely
course, cart girl and staff were phenomenal, also deer and ducks walking around is well cool, members a bit moody but apart from that. Unreal!Reviewer Rating

Good
Interesting course with no rough due to large amount of deer, tees & fairways good, some bunkers need better sand in & some greens need some tlc, but considering the deer roam the course, which I think is nice, it's good. Pro told us the watering system will be up & running soon, which will only improve the quality of the course. Clubhouse food good, staff & members very friendly, overall had a great dayReviewer Rating

Worst Course ive played in 2025
I'm a member here, so think i have the right tobe quite harsh.
Tees, fairways, most bunkers & greens are awful
Ive played plenty of Essex courses, where fairways are
scalded due to the weather- but generally the tees & greens
condition make up for it.
Not here, Maylands is in an awful state. The Brook St
spur road work isnt helping ( with huge areas of unmarked
GUR (mainly 3rd & 5th holes).
Dont waste your time & money

Maylands
Hospitality was excellent and fairways were good. The greens were poor and the club were doing a lot of work on the bunkers which were poor. I've visited Maylands numerous times and it's the worst I've ever seen the greens.Reviewer Rating
