What the club says: The 18 hole, par 71 championship golf course measures 6,361 yards. The layout is typical of that from the world renowned golf course architect Harry Colt, known for course designs such as Wentworth, Sunningdale and Royal Portrush.

Laid out in 1936 the course offers a great challenge with gently undulating fairways lined with trees. The greens always present a true putting surface and are framed by trees or landscaped mounds with many of them being protected by the cleverly placed bunkers to catch the wayward approach shot. The course consists of two loops of nine holes enabling golfers to start and finish their rounds near the clubhouse.

Deer are a pleasant distraction

The greens were a bit of a mess and the pace of play ridiculously slow. Shame as it's a good course layout. Plenty of challenge and a has a nice deck for sundown drinks after the round.

Excellent course

Fairway a bit burnt obviously, but greens in good condition. Bunkers could do with more sand in places.

Decent course

Can't com plain too much this time of year but a couple of points.
The tee boxes are not very flat and the greens don't hold even with a wedge.
Apart from that a great layout and a friendly welcome from the staff.
Bacon rolls and coffee and made to feel very welcome.
Will go back again in near future.

Boggy but Enjoyable - Open Day

Random foursome booked for the Maylands Open day, a very pleasant experience and enjoyable round especially as the weather was cold but sunny overall. Playing off the winter blue tees so probably easier to score. Course was extremely damp although I carried my playing partners all had trollies which was very difficult. Maylands is a good experience not the longest but challenging nevertheless.

Enjoyed a round amidst someone's society day so slow but no hardship. Always plenty of deer around to while away the waiting. Greens had been aerated so slightly unpredicatable but fairways reasonable despite recent wet weather. A real bargain & happy to go back again this winter
