What the club says: Abridge Golf Club is a typical parkland layout set in the rolling countryside of Essex. At nearly 7,000 yards, this course is quite long and as a result is quite testing if played off the back tees. From the yellow tees, the course is much more playable for the higher handicap golfer, making it accessible to all golfers.

I was told that the fairways here were good. They weren't just good, they were probably the best fairways I've ever been on. Well, when I found the fairways anyway... The tees and greens were likewise in excellent condition.
The terrain is generally very undulating, and I'm not sure that there are many holes which you'd describe as flat. The fairways are generally fairly generous, but there are a few which tighten up a little. I don't remember a lot of holes where you could see the flag from the tee, so be prepared for a fair number of doglegs.
What you won't get are any bad holes. I'm pretty safe in saying that you will enjoy playing here, from the warm welcome you receive in the pro shop, to the final putt at the 18th, this is just an awesome place to play golf.

Golf Course Reviews for Abridge Golf Club
Ok, so played here for the first time having heard such great reports.
Firstly, could have had a slightly better reception in the pro shop. Felt a bit stuffy if I'm being honest.
The course itself is in great condition and the greens were superb.
If you enjoy dog legs you will love the front 9. Holes 1,3,4,5 and 6 all dog leg leading to lots of blind tee shots which is difficult if you haven't played here before.
The back 9 does straighten out a bit more and rather enjoyable.
Its a great course, I would go back and would recommend it to golfer of all abilities.

Played Abridge during hot summer when lots of courses were dry. The greens had been watered in very good condition and were a good pace, some of the fairways had been watered to. This is not an easy golf course especially the first three holes on the back nine and felt I played well playing to my handicap.

A good course, well kept. Enjoyed the round in the sunshine. Would go back if the price on TeeOffTimes is right.

This was well kept, seemed to be decent clientele. Happy customer.
Well done Abridge. Must have been a difficult summer

Played in early June. Always a nice layout and good condition. Greens were very slow although I guess there was little the ground staff could do if lots of rain previous week.
(Round played: Jun 2018 - Score: 89 Handicap: 10.4)
Nice course and friendly staff in the bar. Nice food. Overall though, considering the eye-watering green fees, the place really needs some improvement. The car park stinks of sewage or stagnant pond, the buggies max speed is about 5 mph, they emit fumes which are unpleasant but they do have USB charging sockets which is surprising. The staff in the Pro Shop were business-like without being particularly welcoming

Played a charity day at this Henry Cotton designed course which is a good challenge in the countryside with peacocks running around each hole. Most holes tree lined Large greens and tees kept in good condition.
Really enjoyable round, course was good but greens need work for sure, but that is to be expected and understood considering recent weather.

Played on a Sunday afternoon the week after all the rain. Very very wet under foot. No fairways cut so quite long grass. Greens were patchy. Very hilly and lots of dog leg holes . Good pace of play considering the conditions. ?22 each of the net. Defiantly play again but when it's dryer. I think it could be great dry. Good atmosphere in the pro shop.
The course clearly doesn't soak up the rain well. Although it had rained for much of the last 2 weeks the previous few days had been dry but this course was almost unplayably wet. Greens not in great condition either with signs of disease. Shame because this course was stunning last year. Will give it another try after a dry spell

Not the best conditions to play golf as previous days of torrential rain left couse very wet in places. Having said that, the greens all ran true and were no problem although very very soft. I imagine them to be very quick in summertime. Enjoyed playing this up and down course for the first time and look forward to visiting in warmer and drier times.

Given the recent weather the course was in good condition and the greens were great. Will be back in the Spring
(Round played: Dec 2017 - Score: 101 Handicap: 25.5)
this course is in fantastic condition for mid October and at £20. What a bargain
(Round played: Oct 2017 - Score: 82 Handicap: 7.4)
The greens were in excellent condition. Some of the bunkers are short of sand but that is the only gripe about this course.
