What the club says: The course is truly unique, with 9 of the fairways being narrowly sculptured out of the ancient forest, pleasantly contrasting with 9 wider and winding fairways. Subtly borrowed greens are guarded by strategically placed bunkers, all of which make this par 68 course a real challenge for all standards of player.

The course is short but tight (in places) with only 1 par 5 which suited me.

More of a thinkers course where you have to plot your way around the course rather than ripping a drive down the middle which is nice.

The course was in very good condition for the time of year, only a couple of temporary tee boxes and one temporary green. A few of the greens were waterlogged especially towards the back few holes but this didn't ruin our round.

The communication I had with the club from start to finish was 10 out of 10, extremely friendly staff and nothing was too much hassle.

The breakfast was nice and the staff were very friendly on the day and looked after our party extremely well (the chocolate cake at the end of the round was also lovely)

Such an Enjoyable Thinking Cours

It's not long - only 1 par 5 - but a variety of holes & challenges with narrow lines through trees or well placed shots for doglegs. Superb value.

Greens were a little confusing first few holes (but mostly due to onslaught of rain at first tee). Don't hit your drives long unless you can shape 'em and keep them on the fairway, otherwise you're always stuck or needing to drop one.

Shame

Nice tight little course but in poor condition due to wet weather earlier in the year. Fairways patchy and green?s bobbly and patchy

Do not play

Worst kept course I've played for a while.
Sandy greens with some holes created by animals left.
Fairways bare, bumpy with holes.
Course has a nice layout, but clear that it hasn't been cared for for a number of years. ?39pp is a joke.

The pro shop staff on the day & in the clubhouse couldn't have been nicer but there but we?d arrived based on a winter deal & not sure everyone know what was going on?Meanwhile, the course played well with signs of wetter conditions ahead over winter but no complaints about the greens & fairways

Nice spot in the forest

Nice layout of different holes, need to play it more than once as many holes just need an iron as its not a long layout. some greens a bit wholly at present but the forest setting cannot make green maintenance easy, also fairways bit bare and very hard so some very unhelpful kicks and bounces.

A bit too tight

For the twilight rate of £14 it really is good value, but some of the fairways are so narrow, it does make it a bit silly sometimes. Plus there are just too many short dogleg par fours. Lovely welcome from everybody we spoke to, but broadly not a great course

Nice. Tricky. Could be better

The only thing letting this place down is the greens and I'm guessing that's because the hold to much water. Lovely place don't need a driver

Friendly people, decent course, but....

This is a tough challenge. Very tight, lots of dog legs. Which are the defences over it not being very long. Knowing where to go off the tee is pretty much essential and on some holes leads to taking some very serious risks. However, there are a few holes, especially on the back nine that, IMHO don't work or are kind of tricked up to make them more difficult. For example, The 12th is played over a hedge from the tee. It's a short hole, but you have to play even shorter because there's another hedge about 50 yards short of the green. There's what looks like a gateway space cut into this hedge. It has an air of a crazy golf hole. The 17th could be a great hole, if not for another hedge, across it at about 250 yards. Sure, it's there to stop you driving it. But bunkers would do the same job. Get it slightly long / wrong and you're in the hedge and penalised unnecessarily. On the day we played here, most of the greens were soaking wet and incredibly soft (not just receptive). Many had also been recently tined (in a hot August?). My guess is they have had issues recently and are trying to correct them. Big plus point is the people here, really couldn't do enough for us. That said, I'm not sure I'd rush back.

Birtday game with mike graeme and nobby

Always wanted to play this course. Tricky but although short, you have to plot your way around the course carefully. Wouldn't suit a big boomers game but those with guile would find it interesting.
