Do not play
Worst kept course I've played for a while.Sandy greens with some holes created by animals left.
Fairways bare, bumpy with holes.
Course has a nice layout, but clear that it hasn't been cared for for a number of years. ?39pp is a joke.

I generally like theydon but they let themselves down today. The weather is at freezing temperature, so they had 4 greens closed off, and numerous tee boxes where mats which were frozen and dangerous. I understand they do their best to keep the couse open, but don't charge full price, especially when every other course in the area as a minimum has twilight rates which theydon don't even do.

Short course
Nice for ladies - if you are a longer hitter then not a course for the men. Ladies also tee off with the men and sometimes behind the men so I don't understand that the golf world knows men are stronger than women and women should have their own T boxes.Reviewer Rating

Far too Tight with the trees taking over the course. Some tee shots are through a narrow gap between mature trees spreading from each side. Good shots are sometimes punished severely which is very frustrating. NOT a course for high handicap golfers at all. Not very long though and good greens. Overall too much frustration outweighs everything else

Still enough bare patches off & sometimes on the fairway as remnants from the wet winter. Pin positions all placed in the corners often just 6 feet in. And the greens are often tricky anyway. Another course to revisit in high summer. Kitchen closed at 3. A curious car park with a sign saying no entry at the entrance & upon trying to leave a sign saying no exit.

Short but tight in reasonable condition
Short course, mainly woodland so tight. A fair number of dog-legs. Course condition reasonable but patchy grass in run-ups to greens. Greens themselves okay, true if a little slow. Came up against a slow members competition at end of round.Reviewer Rating

Nice spot in the forest
Nice layout of different holes, need to play it more than once as many holes just need an iron as its not a long layout. some greens a bit wholly at present but the forest setting cannot make green maintenance easy, also fairways bit bare and very hard so some very unhelpful kicks and bounces.Reviewer Rating

A bit too tight
For the twilight rate of £14 it really is good value, but some of the fairways are so narrow, it does make it a bit silly sometimes. Plus there are just too many short dogleg par fours. Lovely welcome from everybody we spoke to, but broadly not a great course(Round played: Aug 2020 - Score: 93 Handicap: 19)

Friendly people, decent course, but....
This is a tough challenge. Very tight, lots of dog legs. Which are the defences over it not being very long. Knowing where to go off the tee is pretty much essential and on some holes leads to taking some very serious risks. However, there are a few holes, especially on the back nine that, IMHO don't work or are kind of tricked up to make them more difficult. For example, The 12th is played over a hedge from the tee. It's a short hole, but you have to play even shorter because there's another hedge about 50 yards short of the green. There's what looks like a gateway space cut into this hedge. It has an air of a crazy golf hole. The 17th could be a great hole, if not for another hedge, across it at about 250 yards. Sure, it's there to stop you driving it. But bunkers would do the same job. Get it slightly long / wrong and you're in the hedge and penalised unnecessarily. On the day we played here, most of the greens were soaking wet and incredibly soft (not just receptive). Many had also been recently tined (in a hot August?). My guess is they have had issues recently and are trying to correct them. Big plus point is the people here, really couldn't do enough for us. That said, I'm not sure I'd rush back.(Round played: Aug 2020 - Score: 88 Handicap: 10.2)

Short, tight course
Tight little course that makes full use of Epping Forest to make up for its lack of length. Lots of irons off tees and clever placement required. Make sure you have your range finder for the lay ups.(Round played: Jun 2020 - Score: 91 Handicap: 0)

Tight and challenging

Leave the Driver at home
Quirky little course but leave your Driver and Woods at home.Upon arrival the guy in the pro shop was very helpful and described the course in detail to us, recommending shot to play on certain holes. This was very useful and helped on a number of holes.
Most holes are short and are dog legs, cutting the corners is not an option. Therefore a mid-long iron off the tee then a mid-short iron in is the best play.
All fairways are lined with trees. Greens were in good condition. Tee boxes could do with some work.
Overall a tricky course that needs some thinking.
