I was told that the fairways here were good. They weren't just good, they were probably the best fairways I've ever been on. Well, when I found the fairways anyway... The tees and greens were likewise in excellent condition.

The terrain is generally very undulating, and I'm not sure that there are many holes which you'd describe as flat. The fairways are generally fairly generous, but there are a few which tighten up a little. I don't remember a lot of holes where you could see the flag from the tee, so be prepared for a fair number of doglegs.

What you won't get are any bad holes. I'm pretty safe in saying that you will enjoy playing here, from the warm welcome you receive in the pro shop, to the final putt at the 18th, this is just an awesome place to play golf.

This course is one of the best Ive played, certainly in Essex. Fairways + greens are in superb condition, your course management will have to be at its best as there are plenty of doglegs right + left, you also have to take an extra club when approaching the greens as many are elevated, too short and you have an awkward pitch shot too long and the same. Its a bit pricey at £45.00 a round during the week, but if your a 4-ball you only pay for 3. You have to play this course at least once you wont regret it....

Good course with plenty of dogleg holes and challenging bunkers, very tricky greens.

I had the pleasure to visit this club in early October 2011, the entrance is impressive and the club house is very nice with good staff although the visitors changing room was a bit small with poor seats and hanging space. the course is possably one of the best in Essex and when we visited it was in very good condition although my 3 on the 18th helped. wonderful test of golf from all tees but best from the whites. the paths were good and had just been refurbished, thanks for a very nice day.

We play a lot of coarses in Essex and Kent and this has to be up there with the best its in great condition although very pricey we paid £135.00 for a four ball on a wednesday morning .The coarse is very tricky and good coarse management is needed and hitting your handicap will need take some doing .The greens and fairways are in great condition ,if you dont mind paying the price then mark this coarse on your list of coarses to play .

Now an Open Qualifying course until 2013 & you can see why! Fantastic condition, some very tricky course management needed & it helps to be quite long off the tee, especially from the Blacks. Very friendly members & staff couldn't be more helpful. A bit pricey, but what would you expect from one of the best courses in Essex?

Well worth a visit

We did a Society day 18 holes of golf and 2 course dinner . The food after in the new spike bar excellent . Really good roast beef followed by Eton Mess . I have seen the course looking better but they have to different work some time on the greens . The greens were slower than when I have played in the past , which was no bad thing for me . There were a few bobbles . Fairways were ok but did draw a couple of awful lies in middle of fairway but feel that is due to the hot dry summer . Still a great society course with a lovely lay out . Not easy to play to your handicap . I thought I struck the ball well and scored 33 points off 18 . 37 points won it and we are quite a strong society . I would happily play Abridge every year with our society but we do rotate the courses . I am certain we will back at Abridge and would happily recommend it to others .
