First time playing the course.
Its got to be the worse designed course I have ever played. The first hole and the 18th hole you both hitting across each other over the same small lake.
The next few holes were very close together and had balls coming very close to us on our fairway.
There are only 6 par 4's on the whole course which is a bit different and the majority of the par 5's are pretty short.
The course was pretty easy, and although the course layout is pretty poor the fairways and greens seemed to be kept in good condition.

I have just joined on a months trial membership and i have to say i was disappointed with the condition of the some of the greens which were uneven and made putting at times hazardous.The round took over 5 hours and if it wasnt for a marshall intervening it would have taken a lot longer i understand it was busy but standing on a tee for up to five minutes at a time is far from ideal and as our membership allows us to play different courses we will be playing elsewhere this weekend.If we hadnt taken out a membership i would have to say this isnt a course i would visit on a regular basis as i dont see it as value for money if you are just a one time visitor.

This coarse is very overpriced at £25.00 a round on a saturday morning and there are very many better coarses you can play in the area for about £20.00.The coarse has 7 par 3s which makes it not much better than a glorified pitch and putt on a plus side the coarse holds the water very well and is normally in good condition whatever the weather.

Although the greens are true and the fairways and teeing areas well maintained, any stray shot will be severely punished by the thigh high grass. You may be unable to find any ball which leaves the fairway because of the dense clover which flourishes on this course.

The Priors. Quite a short course. x7 par 3s and x5 par 5s. The 150 yardage markers were not accurate. And found the greens to be in poor condition. But as for good points, the course is a nice course. The 18th is a nice testing par 3 over water. But remember this is a public course. I havent played the abbotts course (members) but hear its nice and very testing.

Played Stapleford Abbots mid Jan after a stint of poor weather, the course had not held up well. Fairways muddy, greens very scrappy, reflected in the price but will not come back until the summer.

Such a shame....
I played the course on Friday 7th July as part of a large Charity Day, having been a member a while ago I was really looking forward to re-visiting, the course is still a great layout, trees and rough in equal measure, the fairways hard (obviously considering the weather we have had) but not unfair, but the greens and surrounds, oh my God, they are truly awful, please tell me what has happened, the greens are bare or woolly depending where you are and some of the surrounds, well the ground was like powder, has the sprinkler system packed up ?Reviewer Rating
