Interesting course with many dog leg lefts, but it's in very poor condition - Rough is out of control, fairways severely lacking grass. Definitely not worth £30.

Club has been purchased by new owners. No pro shop now and clearly a lack of investment will continue. Greenkeeper I see out there said hardly any of the machines work which doesnt sound good. Greens were ok but rest of the course very averageReviewer Rating

Rough is too long!
So I'm not a professional golfer. I can't hit a dead straight shot every time. My most common shot is a slice when I take my drive. I would take my shot. Hit the ball 220 yards, clearly watch it bounce on the fairway then maybe end up 1 yard into the "short" rough on the edge of the fairway and when I go to find my ball it's impossible. Ended up taking about 10 drop shots from missing balls. And the ones I did find, the rough was too thick to play out of. The greens had sand patches all over them. The bunkers had grass growing in them and not a single rake in sight. The conditions were terrible.Reviewer Rating

The course is not in good condition at the moment. The grass and rough appear to be out of control and the surface water is plentiful

Muddy
Course very muddy,greens in quite good condition.we finished at about 2 and looked forward to a hot drink only to find shop closed(Round played: Dec 2017 - Score: 94 Handicap: 21.7)

Alterations still in progress so a couple of holes have been significantly shortened. OK for a knockabout on your own.

The greens are in good condition, but that said the rest of the course is in need of some attention. The plentiful rough is long and thick and bramble bushes surround the feet of many trees. This makes finding the ball difficult and playing it impossible. Golf is not an easy game and this course makes it even more difficult.

There has been a deal of rain recently and a thaw has made the ground very wet,with standing water on the fairways and in the bunkers. The greens and teeing areas are playable. The rough is still more than plentiful and wrist-breakingly thick.Many trees are surrounded by brambles that make a difficult game almost impossible as well as causing injuries.(THIS REPORT APPLIES TO STAPLEFORD ABBOTTS GOLF CLUB-ABBOTTS COURSE)

Stapleford Abbotts is in a poor state. The base of many trees are covered in brambles, making the playing of a ball even if you find it, almost impossible. The plentiful rough is wrist-breakingly thick and thigh high in places. The six holes nearest to the clubhouse are in a fair state but the holes from four to fifteen are in need of some urgent attention.
