Mr
I think this is God’s own golf course. The views are stunning and it’s a good test of golf especially in the wind. The flora and fauna are out of the top drawer. Recent improvements have transformed the course from how it was a couple of years back.Reviewer Rating

Mr
I saw this comment from another reviewer (who was clearly upset and gave a poor rating). He wrote, " Most of the paths were stony, pitted, and an accident waiting to happen." The course is on land owned by The National Trust and they work with Natural England. Natural England say, " .. we help conserve, enhance and manage the natural environment". The course is on heathland which has poor soils and is naturally very stoney. Concrete, plastic and other non-natural materials are unsuitable. In the wettest part of paths wood chippings and gravel are put down to prevent golfers slipping and falling.I am the seniors captain for 2023 and naturally biased towards my home course. It is the one I have chosen out of a number of fine local courses. For over 30 years I have also been a member of a course that in November 2022 was voted by The World Golf Awards, which were held in Abu Dhabi Europe’s Best Golf Course. That course measures 6,416 metres and the Isle of Purbeck is 6,295 yards. But heather and gorse is a great leveller.

A wonderful challenge
The greens have really responded to the new greenskeeper's touch, plus investment in equipment, a lot of the gorse has been cut back and has recovered well, with many holes now fully opened up for great views, and the course is now in superb condition. Harry Colt's design has been allowed to flow back and IOP deserves the return of its reputation as a great and enjoyable seaside course challenge.Reviewer Rating

What views
Amazing scenery from wherever you look. Greens are tough but beautifully presented. If you go in the rough then unforgiving. This will test out the best of golfers. You will have to think your way around the course. If given a chance, make sure you play this course.Reviewer Rating

Those views!
This golf course has the natural attributes to be one of the best in the world. The views are just incredible. It's an effort just to tear yourself away and actually hit the thing when standing on the 5th tee.I've been playing it once a year for about five years and the investments are starting to bear fruit. The fairways are better. The gorse is being cut back so it isnt quite so punitive. I can't wait to come back next year.
Also, I found the people in pro shop and the bar to be hugely welcoming this year. All in all, a hell of a day's golf.
