JB
Played this course recently as I was staying in the on-site hotel and working nearby, the whole complex which includes many leisure facilities is very good, it is off the main roads so nice and quiet. The course is an excellent all-rounder and would suit both low and high handicappers with enough trouble & tough holes without being too penalising. The course was in very good condition for the time of year and really holds up well in the wet. Not the most extensive pro-shop set within the complex foyer but doers have a separate clubhouse golfers bar that sells good reasonably priced beer and food. I would definitely recommend this course for a casual round with friends and especially for societies or groups.Reviewer Rating

Excellent course
Played with member and local. Excellent course, greens sanded but true putting. Layout perfect. Tricky holes but so enjoyable, thoroughly recommended to play this one. Thank you to the two seniors for a brilliant day.Reviewer Rating

Great Course
With the expected downpours that were predicted for the day was not looking forward to our day. However the weather Gods were in our favour and a great day was had by all. (It didn't rain till we were leaving the course. Greens in good condition and holes were challenging enough for all out participants. Food and catering were excellent and we were well looked after(Round played: Aug 2019 - Score: 100 Handicap: 23)

Well presented. Pace of play was ok. People had good manners. Each hole feels quite private from the others, as course is well matured

One of Club Companies excellent courses
As a member of Benton Hall, we often play other Club Companies golf courses. The Essex is close to where we live and we play this on a regular basis.Lot flatter than Benton Hall but has it's own difficult holes. The first is always a difficult start with a lake offering the slice a wet start to a round.
Would certainly recommend a visit.
