What the club says: The Notleys 18 hole course winds back and forth across the river Brain. With strategically placed bunkers and water hazards making for a great challenging game. It is a beautiful, 18 hole, undulating course with natural water hazards from the River Brain.

ditches are challenging

Interesting course up and down hills of the River Brain valley. Ditches and streams are in challenging positions on several holes. Course condition on 17th June was not very good and looks as if it is poorly maintained and being left to deteriorate. Greens were ok but slow and a bit bumpy. 16th tee had no grass and set up to tee off from mat. All bunkers were just mud - no sand.

Needs TLC

Club house and surrounding looking a bit run down. We played on grass cutting day and the grass obviously had been very long so lots of big chucks of cut grass on the fairways. Greens in reasonable condition but not very fast.
Given the amount of money paid it was good value

Little Gem

Great little course, needs some TLC but worth a try. £14.50 a round well worth a shot.
Clubhouse terrific, staff a delight.

Call to book not online

If you are new to golf or just want to get out and don?t care, this will do a job. If you are working on your game, then maybe give this a miss.

Greens are slow and in bad shape. Bunkers have stones and grass/weeds growing in them. Tee boxes are in bad shape and the fairways aren?t well maintained. It was possible to lose the balls in the fairway in parts.
Pace of play for a bank holiday was a snails pace but the weather explained it, the members didn?t let us play through even though they held us up on every shot. We then let a 2 ball through and they weren?t getting through either that I saw.

Presently surprised. Seen some bad reviews but I really liked it. For the price it is good and worth a round. Holes are interesting not just straight up and down holes like some other courses and reasonable price. Its not in tip top condition but for the price is good. Other courses like Benton Hall charging £50 a round is a joke. Try it for yourself.

Given the hot weather and lack of rain the fairways were green. Greens ok but spoilt by crows digging for worms

Varied and joyful course

Played over a joyous sunny afternoon interesting course with no two consecutive holes the same, doglegs, water hazards sloped greens a good test and reasonably priced for a weekend.
Good facilities and a fair test of ability, thoroughly enjoyed and will return

Not in brilliant condition but they are clearly working hard to improve the course and all facilities. Decent value for money - non-member walked on for £13.50, twilight. Setting is very nice, greens need more work. Not a long course - opportunity to get a really good score if you play well.

Second time around!

The greenkeepers are protecting the course at the moment by not cutting the fairways but the layout if thus course goes back and across a local stream creating a valley feel to the golf
Better for knowing as you don't always need the druver off the tee. Great value combined with a associate card. Ask for Mr Bugg who will be happy to give one to you.

Burnt Course

The course itself is well laid out but that's all I can say for it. The fairways were burnt and didn't seem cut. The greens were also burnt with weeds growing in them in places. On two wholes the sprinklers were going as well. On the backs of greens there are fake owls ( i guess for deterrents) Yet on the poles that these are attached too on some holes are also dead blackbirds !!! ( I'm not vegan)
