What the club says: Braxted Park Golf Club was opened in 1952 and is situated in the mature grounds of the Braxted Park Estate. This gem of a parkland course is recognised as one of the best courses in the County and is a ‘must’ for the discerning golfer. The course consists of 9 holes has a par of 70 with a length of 5614 yards. The three par threes, two par fives and a unique par four means scoring below 70 is more difficult than it might at first seem. Possibly the greatest threat to the unwary golfer comes in the form of tightly bunkered approaches and subtly contoured greens.

Friendly Club
Always a good welcome at Braxted. Course slowly recovering from all the wet weather. A little soggy in places to be expected but greens in very good condition. Good food and drink after the round.Reviewer Rating

Great little course
Friendly little nine hole course which is kept in great condition. To make the back nine different they have created two tees per hole which in one way is good however by doing so they have shortened the course which gives less of a challengeReviewer Rating

Visited again yesterday and as expected course was in excellent shape even though the greens were still recovering from the latest course maintenance. It is that ongoing maintenance that makes Braxted worth a visit. Ian and his staff once again looked after us well. Thank you.Reviewer Rating

Golf Society Day
Had a golf society meeting at Braxted Park yesterday. Having played here a number of times over the last 30 years I can see how well the golf club has developed! This course has 9 holes, but is an 18 hole golf course (different tee pegs for front & back 9). The course is well looked after, is in very good condition & has some quite challenging holes. The clubhouse may be smaller than some of the bigger golf clubs, but the atmosphere is good & the staff are very welcoming & helpful.Reviewer Rating

Found a wonderful, welcoming golf course. Greens are great and the rest of the course is well maintained. Don't be put off by the fact that it is a 9 holes. On the second 9 the tees are cleverly moved making it feel like you are playing a new back 9. I don't think I have ever been made to feel more welcome by the staff . Definitely recommend giving this one a go.Reviewer Rating

So glad I came back
Played this course many years ago (about 30) with my dad, who sadly passed away last year, so went back this year to see what it was like, so glad I did. My friends and I have played pretty much every week since. Great little course , yes the clubhouse isn’t the greatest, but that’s what makes this course so good, it’s never over crowded , twilight £12 for 9 holes. Ok you can’t play weekends, but if I owned it I’d like it all to myself at times.Lovely setting and the movement of the tees for the back 9 makes it a different course to play

A pleasant surprise if a little pricey
Been aware of this course for several years without playing it. Finally played it on the spur of the moment and what a very pleasant surprise. There's only 9 holes so not a massive amount of variety although very different tee positions for front/back nine change how you approach each hole. I've played many courses in Essex and Braxted has some of the most picturesque of any I've played - some really gorgeous looking holes. You could be forgiven for thinking you were somewhere other than rural Essex. Greens played very well although a little slow due to recent heavy rain. Rough was slightly long but not too punishing. Bunkers looked fine although I was fortunate enormously that to never have to play out of one to really tell.Only disappointments: a) the price. ?15 for nine holes at half 3 in the afternoon means there are much better deals around. b) the clubhouse. Homely sort of feel to what is basically a large shed. Not a lot of options for food/drink before or after the round. I've been told the course is closed at weekends so the owner can play it with friends and family. If that's true it's in remarkable shape for a course that clearly doesn't need to run at a profit. Shame, because this course has expansion possibilities and the potential to be one of the very best courses in the area.

nice setting, friendly, not too expensive but definatley has very little Wow factor!
i would play it once maybe twice but probably not again after unfortunately,
it is a very short course which with only 9 holes so its not somewhere you would stay a member for long
but a pleasent day out.
