Stunning

Designed by the man who went to design Augusta! need I say more. In the Peak district, so plenty of slopes, humps and hollows. Fabulous place!

Hidden game - unbelievable value for money

Wow. What a course. I had heard great things about this place and, having checked the green fees (?20-?25 during weekdays), booked up for a round for Tuesday 17th July.
Having reviewed the scorecard in advance, I was concerned that the course yardage of less than 5600 may be an issue - not a bit of it. There is only 1 Par 5 and 5 Par 3s resulting in the reduced yardage but this is a very good challenge of golf.
The first 3 holes are reasonably tame and shortish Par 4s but a nice way to get a feel for the course. You then move on to the 4th Hole which is the most stunning Par 3 you could imagine.
Ahead of my visit, I was also slightly concerned about whether the course would be too dry and baked (as a number of courses are at the moment) due to the long run of dry, hot weather - again, this was not an issue. The greens were beautiful, comfortably allowed a pitchmark and putted beautifully.
On to the scenery. The drive in takes you through the Peak District with fantastic views in and out of beautiful towns (obviously slightly different depending on which direction you come from).
The course itself is simply beautiful from the actual golf course to the rolling hills around the course.
Highly recommended, cannot wait to go back.

Beautiful

Lovely course; great green complexes and surfaces. It has some magic holes as you play around the fantastic scenery of the steep sided hills around you. There are a few streams too; which add to the scenery. I have played 27 of the top 100 courses in England so far and this is my favourite.

An absolute gem

Played in an open AMAM and it was simply stunning. The greens are a challenge and becoming legendary - fast, true and wickedly undulating, get the wrong side and you are stuffed. The fairways are very well shaped and defined and the rough will correctly punish a wild shot.
Friendly pro shop reception, the starter was very welcoming, we spoke to a number of other groups who were all shaking their heads at the challenging putting whilst thoroughly enjoying themselves. Had a great pint and a good meal in the bar that is part way through a refurbishment that has brought a more modern feel to the club and definitely a step forward.
One of the rare courses you play and remember every hole.

Thoroughly Enjoyed

We arrived late, (Manchester traffic & Sat nav combo)

Lady in pro shop very understanding and helpful.. Thank you

Course in lovely condition

Fairways, greens, bunkers all very good..

No easy holes, for short hitters like myself..

Course not long, but feels like it.. Very hilly and a good walk..

Not a complaint btw..

Unfortunately due to early lateness couldn't enjoy facilities..

Well worth playing ?
