What the club says: Chapel golf is an 18 hole course, measuring 6434 yards, representing an interesting and enjoyable challenge, played in some of the most beautiful countryside you will find anywhere.

As you approach through the foothills of the Pennines you could be excused for thinking that you are in for a mountainous round of golf. Nothing could be further from the truth. You will soon discover that the course, nestling in the Valley between Whaley Bridge and Chapel en le Frith, is built on gentle rolling parkland surrounded by magnificent scenery.

Golfshake Team Review

Played here in an open competition recently and the course was in excellent condition despite having heavy rain in the preceding week - so much so that the course was closed for a couple of days.

Very much a course of two halves - the newer front nine (across the road) runs beside a reservoir and is gently rolling, the back nine flatter. The front nine has some of the nicest scenery I've come across on a course.

Front nine calls for accuracy and in some cases distance too, the 4th (sharp dog-leg left) being a great example. Back nine is more open with a bit more of a margin for error except on the fiendish 14th with a tiny green hidden behind a pond.

Overall the course was beautifully presented, good tee boxes (because we were off the whites?), tight fairways and soft but fast, true greens. Only minor gripe would be the margins of some of the bunkers which looked a bit tatty. Great clubhouse, good chips and very friendly staff made the whole experience thoroughly enjoyable. - Sep 10 2009

Absolutely stunning course. Even though the weather was very mixed, the golf course still looked and played superbly well. Given the area, you'd be forgiven to think it would be a hilly course. It's a flat rolling course with spectacular views of the surrounding Derbyshire countryside. Spoke to the professional before my round, and he couldn't have been more pleasant and informative. This golf club and course, is a must for those who enjoy a challenge, but don't want beating up. Will be back for many more rounds.
