What the club says: The New Mills Golf Club is a members club located high in the foothills of the Pennines, near the borders of Derbyshire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester. Its position on the edge of the Peak District National Park makes it ideal for golfers visiting the area. The location is renowned for its natural beauty and affords panoramic views of the Cheshire Plain and beyond to the Welsh Mountains in the west. two of us played it recently in very hot weather, course in good nick and all holes different unlike some place. views were fantastic at times and you can see for miles over cheshire towards wales in the distance.a bargain at the price !! most of the others golfers all seemed very friendy. a very warm welcome after in the clubhouse from couple behind the bar who could not do enough for you, enjoyed a good meal and a cold pint or two while going over the game we had just played. a return visit is a must soon. - Jul 23 2013

Needs work on greens
Lovely course wonderful views nice people unfortunately the greens were shocking, probably the worse greens I have ever played on. very little to no grass on all the green. They need a lot of work to recover. Wouldn't consider playing again till greens improved which is a shame as its a course worth playing repeatedly

My favourite course
I love this course, the back nine is brilliant with some fantastic holes, the par 3 16th in particular, you have to play it to understand why! Only gripe is the boggy fairways on the 10th,11th and 14th but they are busy installing new drainage so this should be much better once completed.

Friendliest club ever
The course, although quite short with 6 par 3's, is anything but easy, some beautiful challenging holes, two that stick out for me are the par 4 9th, which i think would make a fantastic finishing hole, and the 16th, a spectacular 230 yd downhill par 3. There are a variety of holes and every hole is different. Two holes on the back nine, 9/10, do suffer with soggy sides around the trees at the edge of the fairways after heavy rain, fairways and greens in general are always in very good condition I've played this course a number of times over the past few yrs and it never gets tiresome, it's always a pleasure to play. The clubhouse is so friendly and has a good variety of food and beer, John behind the bar can't do enough for you and is a real gent. A class act all round.

This is a MUST play course
My favourite course, six par threes, the fourth is only 87 yards off the yellows but it plays differently every time, the 16th, down hill to a sloping green, very difficult to keep it on the green, we have used 5,6,7 irons, rescue woods, 3 and 5 woods, even driver when the wind was up! what about the 12th, the quarry hole, brilliant. The staff are amazing, they make every one so welcome, John the club house steward is a top guy. Great value for money deals available, we took the 12 rounds in a year (full,12 months) for only ?150, we play there every 2 to 3 weeks, you can't miss us, we're the idiots in shorts....even in winter when its freezing. You must playbthis course as soon as you can. You wont regret it.

Absolute howling gale, even the High Peak Locals said it was bad. The course was in great nick, its cheap, friendly and very tough! A couple of querky holes with tee shots having to rise over a cliff face on the 11th ( i kid you not) and the 16th being a 230 yard par 3 where the green is only just viewable in the distance down a steep hill and over a mass of gorse bushes. But all in all an excellent day out!!!

Really nice course, quite short with some quirky holes especially the short par 4s and the various par 3's, ranging from 82y to 230y. Course condition was briliiant with the best greens i've seen for years. Overall really an enjoyable day, will defo play here again.

Rob M rated 4 out of 5 - Aug 3 2015

Course was in very nice condition, greens rolled out nicely and were consistent and true. Many greens are well guarded by green side bunkers and the putting surfaces not being the largest, approach shot accuracy is key. Some fantastic views from notably the 15th tee. The 16th hole is something special playing 230 yards all down hill par 3. The ball seems to stay in the air for a age. Friendly welcome from the pro on arrival and members we passed on the course were friendly. Just a minor downside was that the many of the bunkers had weeds in and compacted sand. Apart from that the course was well presented and will be returning again.

This is a very beautiful course, with many interesting holes. Whilst not a hard course I found it quite testing. The weather when I played was very good, but I think the course would be a bit gruesome in poor/windy weather as it is very high and quite exposed for a lot of holes. The views from the tees are fantastic, so take a camera if you can. I could play a lot of golf here!!!!
