Best course I?ve ever played.

This is a beautiful course. I didn't really believe all the Augusta comparisons but in the approach to the 6th green I really thought I was there in Georgia. These were the trickiest greens I've ever played on but they were fair and took some real thought. Great course and the people running it and the clubhouse were all friendly and keen to please. I recommend wholeheartedly!

Stunning Course in a Stunning Location

I couldn't fault anything anything about my first time at Cavendish. The greens, tees and fairways are all as good you'll find, and there's not a single weak hole in the round. I tried deciding what my favourite hole was but there were simply too many to choose from.

The greens are frequently raised, and the 14th especially is pretty mean about rejecting your ball if you find the front part of the green. The course isn't long, but the greens do their best to protect against good scores.

It's certainly not a flat course, so you may want to consider a buggy if you struggle on undulating courses.

There was also a very pleasant welcome in the pro shop and the clubhouse, Seriously, if you're in the area and thinking about giving Cavendish a go, it's definitely worth playing.

Avoid until coursework finishes

I had the misfortune to book through playmore golf only to find out that the 18 holes was more like 13. Parts of The course are like a building site just at the moment, rest is fairly muddy with shortened holes , forward winter matts and several winter greens on the remaining holes that are open . This course was on my must play list but very disappointing experience today and certainly not a good advert for a Top 100 England course . Personally I do not think it should be open to visitors at moment.
I’m sure it’s completely different in Summer but one to avoid until course is fully operational again. To be fair the club refunded the green fee cost but to be honest it was a waste of a day out in January when I could have had a far better game somewhere else.

Totally enjoyable day out #GolfWeek

Highlights: great track not long but a thinkers track, welcome warm up for first 3 holes before the mind games start. a lot of stunning holes to be found. place your ball and build a score NO big hitting really required. pro shop lads very welcoming and overall a lovely club. 100% worth the dreadful roads to get there.

Practice area is near the 8th / 12th tee boxes (bit of a treck) but they have 2 warm up nets for that stiff back due to a stop start drive.

One downside £1.50 for a SPOON of Nescafe and hot water :-( I guess if that's the only issue, it's worth the effort :-) build a dual carriageway FAST.

This is a very friendly welcoming club designed by dr Mackenzie in 1925 it has stood the test of time. A member of our party actually said it was the best course he had ever played. Greens immaculate and true. Well done to everyone at the club it is a true first class course.

Played here with some pals on a glorious October afternoon, the course is a absolute delight first three holes are relatively straightforward but the greens are a sign of things to come ahead, after that the course \opens up with some stunning scenery and views over the peaks. Some great elevated Ts and I think the par 3s are some of best short holes i have played anywhere, 10 and 11 are stunners also The course is not overly long but plays longer than its yardage if you keep the ball in plays a good score can be had. All in all a magnificent course and at \£20 during the weekend amazing value. My new absolute favourite course\\Hc 11 shot 80 \

Great course & under 6k yrds

Definitely a visit but not in winter! Very hilly and greens were very tricky. Definitely an Augusta feeling on the greens. Out of position on the greens means a 3-putt!! Great views around the Peak district.

Agree with those who say this must just about the toughest par 68 course around . My tip is to score points early as later blind holes are very intimidatating . Greens are tricky .

Lovely course, every hole a different challenge

Although this course is a par 68, it certainly is one to visit and just see the beauty of its layout. Some very challenging holes which need precise and long tee off's to play to GIR. Beautiful scenery and the natural features which run through the course just add to the enjoyment. The course is in excellent conditions and the staff were really helpful considering the COVID-19 conditions making it more difficult to use all the facilities. If you want a beautiful course, with some really different holes, get it on your list.

Better than more famous Golf Courses

Played on Sunday morning 14-04. Booked an early tee online and had a small delay due to course thawing out which meant we sampled the hot drinks available in the friendly clubhouse. We?d only played 2 holes when we realised we were playing somewhere special.
A fabulous course which just got better.
Difficult to single out one hole as so many were fantastic- Every par 3, 3rd,5th,6th,9th,10th,11th and not forgetting the fabulous18th.
Members must pinch themselves every week at how blessed they are to play this fantastic course. Greens superb and afterwards really reasonably priced food in the bar- can't wait to get back..

Stunning course

First time playing the course. And what a Stunning course it is. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were in fabulous condition. The wet weather had flooded a few bunkers, but I didn't go in any, so the GUR didn't come into play for me. Absolutely immaculate views throughout the very picturesque golf course. I was told the course is quite hilly, but I found it to be relatively easy to get around with no major hills to navigate. As for navigation, the course is well marked and easy to plot your way around. All together I would recommend Cavendish golf club to anyone, whatever their level. One last point, I'd like to say a huge congratulations to the ground staff, who must work hard to maintain the course to such a high standard.
