10 Great Last Minute UK Autumn Golf Breaks

By: Golfshake Editor | Wed 28 Sep 2022

It was a summer of heatwaves and dry weather, but that now seems long in the past as we greet the cooler temperatures and shorter days of the autumn.

That change of season often sees many golfers head for the warmth of Spain and Portugal, but those of us who are staying at home shouldn't entirely miss out on the fun. There are some wonderful destinations to enjoy within the UK, where many an excellent deal can be secured at this time of year.

But where should you be considering? For helpful inspiration, our travel partners, Golfbreaks, have come up with a selected group of venues that are perfect for a last-minute break this autumn.

The Belfry

The Belfry

British Masters venue, The Belfry is best remembered for hosting the Ryder Cup on four unforgettable occasions. That was on the Brabazon Course and its famous 10th hole, which remains a significant draw for golfers, but they shouldn't overlook the PGA National or Derby either.

When you consider the variety of accommodation options presented, it's easy to see why The Belfry continues to be a bustling heartland for golf in the Midlands, as showcased in our Stay & Play VLOG.

Forest of Arden

Forest of Arden

Staying in the Birmingham area and another venue with European Tour heritage, the eponymous Arden Course is highly acclaimed, as demonstrated in Golfshake's Feature Review, but the facility itself has many additional qualities, something we explored in our 10 Reasons to Stay & Play at Forest of Arden.

St Pierre Marriott

St Pierre Marriott

Venturing to Chepstow and the Welsh/English border, St Pierre is housed within a 14th century manor home and is blessed with vast parklands and a superb championship course that was celebrated in a recent Golfshake article Why You Should Stay & Play Golf at St Pierre.

Celtic Manor

Celtic Manor

Forever associated with the dramatic, nail-biting Ryder Cup in 2010, Celtic Manor is a jewel in Wales that boasts a variety of accommodation options and three exceptional courses, the Twenty Ten, Montgomerie and Roman Road, all of which combine to explain Why You Should Play Golf at Celtic Manor.
