What the club says: The Vale Resort has two 18 hole championship courses. The Wales National is one of the longest golf courses outside of the USA - at 7,433 yards and par 73 off the championship tees. It opened in June 2003 by Great Britain Olympic gold medalist Sir Steve Redgrave and has hosted multiple Europro and Challenge Tour events. The aptly named Lake Course (par 72) is dominated by a 20-acre lake and has water coming into play on 12 of its holes.

Really fun
Really fun course, would like to play it again now knowing the course lay out as there are quite a few blind shots. There are also some very sloped fairways that you think you've played a good shot only to find that you have run down the hill 40 feet!!!

Enjoyable Course to play
Very nice course to play, not easy and lots of doglegs. In very good condition, the greens were slow, but just as well.Reviewer Rating

Difficult without being impossible
Very nicely laid out, difficult without being impossible for mid to high handicappers. It was in nice condition when we played in OctoberReviewer Rating

Magnificent Course.
If you have never played this then get it on your bucket list. There are some truly amazing holes on this course, the 2nd, 5th, just to name 2 on the front 9. Several dogleg style holes so club choice is deffo something you have to choose carefully. You also have the option of a second course if you stay for a couple of days like we did. Get in your car and get down there pronto.Reviewer Rating

2 Good Courses
Played The National 1st and this is a long course to play and can be difficult at times if you're not long off the tee.The Lakes Course is a much nicer course to play but again some really tricky holes and a lovely par 3 to test your skills.

Very enjoyable
We played this course twice. One after a 3 day downpour which made the greens very slow, bumpy and unimpressed but after two days of sun it was like a completely different course and fantastic.Reviewer Rating

Very Enjoyable Course
We played The National and found it an excellent course. The green fee was very reasonable for such a quality well maintained layout. I would recommend a buggy as there is quite a distance from green to next tee. All aspects were good, tees, fairways and greens. Signage is OK, but we got lost looking for the 17th tee. The course Marshall is a real character, very friendly, helped make our day. The food and drinks are good here. Would recommend it wholeheartedly.Reviewer Rating

Approached bar afterwards and was told to sit down and wait for table service, waited 20 minutes for service, couldnt get attention of staff though there were plenty around, so gave up and went to a pub instead!

The National
For £20 a round in November really can't complain. We were paired up with random people to make a 4 ball which was ok I guess. The course itself is fantastic. A bit soft underfoot but to be expected, made replacing divots tricky as the ground often exploded. Greens were a bit bumpy, shame on those not repairing their pitch marks. Also shame on those dropping their rubbish, beers cans and bottles mostly. A beautiful course, in a beautiful setting. Would definitely go againReviewer Rating
