What the club says: The Arden course is one of the country's most spectacular challenges and host to a succession of international tournaments, including the 1997-1999 One-2-One British Masters, 2000-2002 English Open and the 2003 British Masters. It also has one of the European Tour's most distinct signature holes in its 18th; a Par 3, 202-yard hole overlooking the fishing lakes and resort.

The Aylesford Course; Golfers of all abilities will find the shorter Aylesford course a varied and enjoyable challenge. Kept to the same high standard as its celebrity sister, both courses offer a good chance that the friendly local deer will wander on to the course in this majestic countryside setting.

Immaculate

Immaculate, a different challenge on each hole, and reasonable green fee for the quality of the course.

Outstanding

The condition of the course was outstanding. Each hole makes you think rather than just take out your driver. The back nine in particular was beautiful with the bracken up and the deer wandering around was magical.

Dark start but great morning

Played our usual 4 ball even though pretty cold and it had been raining heavily. Found the course in top nick, The drainage on the fairways as well as on the greens produced great bounce and even running on in a few occasions.

Amazing Course and Scenery, not for the faint hearted as it is difficu

We played both bourses over the weekend and the Arden is the most difficult course I have ever played; I am a new golfer so knew it would be hard but that didn't stop my enjoyment. A beautiful course, Deer on the fairways and plenty of space all around. Would absolutely recommend it.

Two great courses

Brilliant course. Long holes with plenty of sand, trees and water which added to the challenge. Greens were very fast and course in great condition.

A beautiful, well kept course. The tee boxes and fairways were as good as the greens we normally pay on! The greens were in excellent conditions with a lovely variety of slopes to contend with. Enough challenging holes for any golfer to have to think about. Horrendous prices in the bar though. We chose to go to a local pub!

The Forest of Arden. Play it. You won't be disappointed

Away working and have wanted to play the FoA for a while and my new golf insurance offered a free round, so didn't pass up the chance. The Arden course was busy, so jumped on it's little sister course, Aylesford. Not as long as the Arden, but this is still a challenging course. There are some good holes that make club selection paramount. One par 5 on both 9's. Short par 4's may tempt, but streams, bunkers and trees force you to play sensible. The course plays longer than its 5900 yards, due to uphill or sloping fairways. It would be wrong to single out any holes as special as there are lot that are great and enjoyable to play when you stand in the tee. The proshop was well stocked as you would expect from a top venue and the staff I had the pleasure of meeting while there were very friendly and helpful. Special mention to Dave in the starters hut who gave me a good idea of what to expect during my round and the course layout plan by the first tee was helpful if you haven't played there before. All in all, for a free round of golf at a first rate venue, I couldn't complain and the Aylesford course is a good golf challenge. If you are here for 2 rounds, I'd play this first followed by the Arden course, as I've heard that is tougher. You won't regret playing the Aylesford. I certainly didn't.

Arden Course superb, Aylesford hard !

We played the Aylesford twice and the Arden once on a Golfbreak, I would have to say the Arden is so well kept it overshadows the Aylesford by a mile. However, try getting a good score around the Aylesford as for me that is the bigger challenge, whilst playing the Arden is a pleasure everybody should experience. Not just the roaming deer, but the lovely white sand bunkers, water holes and manicured fairways but the design of the holes and greens and finishing on the par 3 over the water towards the clubhouse. If you only have time to play one, pay extra for the Arden, believe me you won't be disappointed.
