What the club says: Play a round on this truly impressive Dave Thomas designed, 27 hole golf complex. Oulton Hall boasts the North of England's leading golf performance centres and is a must for golf aficionados. This is golf at its best.

The par 71 Calverley Course overlooks a beautiful hill and dale landscape. A pleasure to play, with groomed fairways and subtle, undulating greens.

On the north east side of the estate, The Hall Course is a picturesque, par 36, 9-hole course. The Hall 9 are sometimes played with 9 from The Park, to make a different 18 hole challenge.

What Golfshake says: With 27 holes to choose from you're not going to be disappointed when getting the clubs out here. With the new Nike academy on the range as well you're going to be fully prepared from which ever 18 holes you're going to take on.

Excellent for the time of year

Excellent condition for the time of year! Good pace of play, only one hole that had been closed and we hadn?t been told about it which was a shame.

Course Great, customer service shocking

Couldn?t get a buggy because ?it was too late? and ?they?ve been out all day and not charged? yet the next group out had them, because they stayed and argued, seems to be a persistent issue depending who?s on the counter speaking to a few. Only ended up doing 11 holes, would have been able to do the 18 with a buggy.

Nice but not great

Decent course and quite challenging without being too difficult for a high handicap player. Greens in good condition bearing in mind the severe weather. Green fees ok if booked or playing wth a member. Drinks prices extremely expensive for nothing special club house which is off putting and bar staff very surley, does push this course down my list of regular courses to play.

Great course

I attended this course after booking using an online booking site, when we arrived the course had a club game on and the online booking site hadn?t been updated. The club still accommodated the two of us despite their course being extremely busy. The course was in great condition, the greens were true and it provided a good challenge with some tricky par 4s for those who aren?t the biggest hitters. The only drawback is that there isn?t much challenge on the greens as they are rather flat.

The course itself in good with great facilities and the only thing that let it down was that the bunkers had very little sand in them in fact there was more stones than sand in most of them. I suppose if you are a better golfer than me you can avoid them but if not be prepared to be giving your irons some battle scars,

Great bits, bad bits

A great course for the price - fairways and greens were in great nick considering we've just come out of some really bad weather.
There are two things that bother me about Oulton though, considering it is meant to be a top resort course and is at Yorkshire's only five star hotel. The bunkers are shocking and no better than they were when this was a Leeds City Council course many years back. I putted out of one bunker.
The other thing is congestion. I am sure the pro meant well (and was very friendly, so I am not trying to pull him to bits at all - he was a nice guy) when he told us that the course was pretty empty and we could "fire at will". We got to the tee and a three-ball had just teed off. They had hit pretty bad shots so waved us through immediately. By the time we (a two ball) had teed off and got to our balls, there were three other groups on the tee. I don't get why this happens when they have three loops of nine holes so can effectively start three groups at three different places.
That said, i'd definitely return as I enjoyed the course and the staff were great.

A course to play twice

While staying at the Q hotel at Oulton Hall at the end of February I had the pleasure of playing the golf course which has a mix and match of 27 holes I played 10 - 27 which I found quite challenging in places but fair (I am a 16 HCP) I will definitely return to play in the warmer weather to see how the course plays then. The Hotel was excellent as was the course the staff etc.
