After arriving in a torrential downpour with thunder thrown in, the course recovered very quickly and with some sun started to dry very well, until more heavy rain later! A demanding opening hole, par 5 followed by a tricky par 3. The following three par 4's all pose a challenge with well bunkered greens. A difficult par 3 at 7th followed by very challenging par 5 and par 4 both needing substantial carry off the tee. An uphill par 4th at 9th giving the option of calling it a day! Good par 4 at 10th followed by possibly the easiest hole on the course? Make the most of this par 3 because it gets even tougher from now on!! Played through thunder and hefty rain the remaining holes are very daunting with lots of thick rough and some testing tee shots. Fantastic holes at 15 and 16, both par 4 followed by the toughest par 3 I've played! Very pleased with my par here. A good finishing hole back to clubhouse. This is an awesome course, needing thought on every shot! We will def be back, the greens were excellent, very few pitch marks not repaired, a few too many divots on some fairways, lazy golfers at fault. Otherwise a must play, not for beginners!

My favourite of the De Vere venues probably because I always play well around there. Not only that it's set up just to my liking. Very much like an American style course, wide fairways, large undulating greens and all the little things in place which tips the balance from a very good course to an exellent one. I.e Yargades at 200, 150 and 100, yardage book correct all little things like that. Great test of golf.

Played here on my anniversary weekend.
Weather was superb, as was the course. This is one serious test of golf with hazards a plenty to catch any wayward shots. I was coasting at level par thru 6 holes and then arrived at the 7th hole......the hardest hole I've ever played! After a triple bogey I managed to pull the round back together.
Really enjoyed the course noteably the perfect tee boxes, number of distance markers and sublime greens. The staff in the shop were very helpful and informative.
Best part of the day? Sinking a 14 foot birdie on the 18th infront of the hotel terrace which was packed with members, then sinking an ice cold beer in the Claret Jug bar!!
Seriously recommend this to any mid to low handicap golfers after a true test of golf. I doubt high handicappers would enjoy it so much!

Golfshake Team ReviewI always like to play this course, great challenge and test of golf. Some say hard but just requires some thinking which makes it even better. A few walks between green to tee so not a fast 4 hour round and buggies could be worthwhile to some.

Fantastic layout and in extremely good condition. This course is very difficult but if you play then swallow your pride and play off the tees that suit your ability as there are Blue, White, Yellow and Green to choose from.

Very good course certainly not one for the "Newbie" to golf. very strong Par 5's and need to be straight, excellently looked after and presented, good use of bunkers and hazards.
The rough has recently been cut back as previously it was manic, easy to lose a ball and plenty of water in play.
Thoroughly recommended.

Long, tough course. Glad we checked out the course on 'google earth' first, as we saw how far some of the Green to tees were and it made is get a buggy (good £20 spent that!) Very friendly pro and shop staff. Thoroughly recommend playing a round there.

Played hear on 25th and 26th Sept, it was amazing!

It is a very challenging course I started playing golf again 2 months ago so I was more than happy with my 92 I shot on the 2nd day.

The fairways are very tight and fast, if you hit a good drive you will get an extra 20 or 30 yards just off the run of the grass, the greens are like glass, very fast!

Starting off with a big par 5 ( 524yards ) don’t be scared to get the driver out and give it a good belt, you have nothing to lose, as the rough to the left and right of the fair ways are manageable with a 5 iron leaving you a decent pitch as your 3rd shot if you need it.

Throughout the course there are a number of water hazards and bunkers, so good tee shots are helpful. The 2 lads that I play with tended played safe with a 3 iron or a 5 wood, but I could not resist trying to split the fairways.

The only other advice that I can give you is hire a buggy as wychwood seems to be a very long walk and we opted for a buggy on the 2nd round due to a few bottles of red wine we drank the night before!

The guys in the pro shop are brill, really friendly and helpful and will answer any questions you have regarding the course and gave us a few good tips regarding positions we should be aiming for on the big par 5’s. As well check out the photo’s on the back wall behind the till, we were surprised to see a photo of a very young Neil Cox ( ex Middlesbrough defender ) which gave us a good laugh after a 2.5 hour drive from sunny Middlesbrough!

All in all this was a grate 2 day break; we booked through a specialist online golf company and paid £98 for dinner bed and breakfast with 2 rounds of golf!

Would highly recommend this course to anyone and we will definitely be going back!

Stunning course, stunning hotel, stunning scenery!
