played 2 and a half times sooooo slow
I played with 20 people on a 3 day break
nice tough course in good condition
HOWEVER
1 no course guide - which you need when there so many hidden hazards
2 BIG GRIPE - pace of play ---this has to be the slowest course
day 1 was ok ish - a bit later than we had planned (and had to put dinner back)
but day two
1 1 hour to get the the 3rd tee as we had 3 groups of four bunched up on the second tee
2 we waited on every hole and on every approach shot and were so slow we had to lie or sit down for 10 mins a time -we limped in in just under 7 hours - not enjoyable for anyone
3 dinner had to be pushed back again
on our final day we decided as a group that if we were more than 2 and a half hours for 9 holes we would call it quits
we were 3 hours 10 and the prospect and disappointingly came in
playing this slowly is not enjoyable

Disappointment
The course has potential but doesn't quite live up to expectations. Greens were in good condition but at variable level of dryness, which made judging putting speed almost impossible. On top of this you get concrete-hard fairways craving for water together with unforgiving rough and incredibly slow pace of play. The course was absolutely crowded: we had to wait at every tee for at least 5-10 minutes. I finished my round in just under 6 hours, which is the longest round I ever played... It is not the kind of challenge one would want to face again any time soon.

Disappointing
A group of 20 of us played here on 10/2/19, if was a disgrace and shouldn’t have been open. I have never seen a course so wet and still being played, shame on the powers that be, because profit clearly comes first and the course very much second. Our four ball looked like we’d been mud wrestling for 5 hours, and we all agreed that such a well laid out course was being abused in these conditions.

Recovering from the summer
Challenging set up but a little disappointed with the condition. Having played on a number of courses with fantastic greens it's seems these had been lost at sometime and are at the start of recovery. All staff really helpful.

Hacker's paradise
Good test of golf being undersold and insulted by the management, these days the course is full of hackers with no etiquette whatsoever, these guys will half an hour to play one hole, no Marshall on the course to check what's going on, some of the guys should not be allowed on the course, the pro should examine their game before letting them loose on the course, I am extremely disappointed that it has come down to this level. Very little refreshment eg sandwiches etc available in the pro shop. Range mate are harder than concrete, poor quality range balls. These guys need to up their game a bit to match the quality of the course.

Dissapointed
Played course as a society this weekend, on looking forward to this course can only say I was dissapointed with the overall condition of the course. The greens were in very good condition but this is where it ended - the fairways were overgrown and not very well defined from some of the second cuts further to this vert patchy with large areas of dead fairways. The course had roped off areas that made it difficult to get to greens for no apparent reason - this only added further distance to a long course. Further to this the hole signage is poorly placed when on tees, this would be better situated where you can see whilst on the tees to give guests an idea on the hole. There are cheaper better kept clubs in the area - sadly won't be visiting again

Pace of play extremely poor at this venue which is a shame given the very nice course.

Very nice course with lots of interesting holes. Please be warned though that our round on Sunday 7th September took 6 hours! The course is fair but just to hard to cope with 8 minute tee slots for four balls and with the usual weekend society hackers. Plenty of groups were walking off the course behind us and we had 15-20 minute waits on every hole to tee off. Saturday round took 5.5 hours. Complained to the course and they just said it was the normal for a tough course which was a dissapointing response really. Would not play there again which is a shame.

Needlessly tough course. It rained and the wind blew on the two days we played adding to the difficulty. There were far too many people on the course and at one point from a tee we could see three holes and seven groups of players on them. After coming off early to be in time for an evening meal we met a man who had just completed a six hour round.

Played this course in July over 2 hot days, it's a monster. All wayward shots are punished with a lost ball, although some of the fairways are pretty wide others bottle neck down & slope towards the rough..in some cases over 3 feet deep. With better management of the rough, removing unnecessarily long carries from the tee, it would make the course much more enjoyable. Having played golf all over the UK, I would rate this among the toughest ever. The biggest gripe however, is the lack of distance markers to the green. There are 150yd yellow disc markers on some holes but some had none at all, and they are virtually impossible to spot unless you are next to them. Installation of 150yd marker posts would take the guessing game away. My golf is an average 16 handicap and my partner's is 32.

An excellent track that given the poor weather was in reasonable condition. Long and tricky but the overriding factor here is overplay and a long round.....be prepared for 5.5 hours however well you play. Poor organisation and too many golfers on the course

There are a few issues I would like to bring up about the choice of this course for the Golf Open 2010. Firstly, The yellow tees were moved forward on almost every teebox, even as far front as the red tees. As I am used to playing from the White (men's) tournament teeboxes, this put the fairway bunkers much more reachable. The condition of the bunkers due to the past night's rain were verging on unplayable. Surely not championship caliber. The pin positions were placed on too many sloping lies which in the very windy conditions made them virtually unputtable. This course definitely made you think your way around and by the 12th hole I was tired of all the thinking!
I suggest next year, if we are still playing here, that the committee meet with the course committee and give suggestions as to tee positions and pin locations.
