Very Poor

For a course connected to a hotel and conference centre the course was in very poor condition. Signage from green to tee was non-existent, for first time players it's a nightmare to find your way around. Tees were very poor although the greens were in good condition and true!

Tough course not in good condition

Tired course overused. Green OK but tee boxes shocking. To many blind holes with hidden bunkers, ditches or streams. Bunkers everywhere which got a bit tiresome...

Good course worth a visit

The tee boxes are in a very poor condition and some of the the greens are in poor condition
and the course is showing signs of this hot weather but still worth a visit.

First timer at Wokefield

Played course on 14 May 19. Nicely landscaped and challenging, but greens were in very poor condition and as a first timer to the course some next tee signage would have been helpful.

Needs some work...

I have played this course several times as I like the layout and varied challenge but haven't played in the last 2 years. The course condition was the poorest I've seen it in. Greens varied in colour and pace and very uneven, the tee boxes were the worst I've played on in many years with some covered in weeds and there were weeds growing in bunkers. Perhaps they will name the holes like at Augusta, but Dandelion, Moss, and Clover just don't have the same appeal.

The course is recovering from a long winter but it imperative that you find the fairways as the second cut and rough very very difficult to play from and the greens are unpredictable.

Mr Mel Atkinson

The course is suffering from a lack of maintenance tees and pathways the greens are in fairly good condition the very hot weather has played a part in the poor overall condition.

Golf at Wokefield

Hot sunny day, fairways burnt, greens like fuzzy felt.
Played here recently with a couple of friends. Mid price I would say at £33.
Lots and lots of sand. Some interesting holes but nothing special. 19th hole incredibly expensive and just not worth it. Be careful on the 18th as the driving range is close by. We were bombarded and the fairway was strewn with stray balls.

For ?20 a round on a midweek evening it was ok. The greens were patchy and bobbled in places, but the course offers a good variety of holes overall. For a hotel course it's not too bad.

Friends organised 2 rounds with an overnight stay in early November so I tagged along. First round was so slow we played the last in near dark despite teeing off at 1130 which is a shame as its one of the better holes.
We also played it off the (back) yellows at the full 6690 yards and it was tough, a little too tough to be enjoyable tbh. I play off 5 and it was a real struggle to get it round in +14 1st time round.. At that length you have to challenge the bunkers placed 250 off the tee if you are going to score and I got into many of them. If you lay up short of the fairway bunkers you will usually have 200+ still to go to small well bunkered greens. Often the holes are poorly defined and not having played it before it isn't at all clear where the best areas are to try and land if off the tee. The 1st is a prime example of that with the bunkers left and right well hidden. I thought the stroke index 1 was a joke, you stand on the tee with absolutely no idea where to go, I've played it twice and still have no idea of the correct play off the tee. I avoided the bunkers on the 2nd round and got it round in +8 and I drove it really well and I was the only golfer from 8 of us to break 30 points either day. Still there were some decent holes, the par 3's were well defined and the overall condition was good but I won't be hurrying back.

Still lot's of the bunkers have not been repaired from the resent storm's and some of the pathways are still heavy going with too much gravel on them.

although the course is in fair condition, a lot of fairways are extremely narrow(not enjoyable I\'m sure for higher handicap golfers. I certainly wont play there again) and if they want to attract lower handicap players the whole course should be of a much better quality. some of the rough quite frankly is stupid

Superbly laid out course though very unforgiving if you miss the fairway - rough WAY too thick.

Fairways and greens in good condition.

Service at the hotel is awful - slow, expensive, slow, non-existant, and slow.
