What The Club Says

Theale Golf Course, designed and constructed by owner Mike Lowe, was founded in 1996. Set in 150 acres in the Berkshire countryside, this 18 hole golf course offers an interesting and enjoyable game for golfers of all abilities.

Although gently undulating, this parkland course is deceptively challenging. Holes varying in length from 154 yards to 519 yards (off the yellow tees), and numerous hazards in between ensures a game at Theale Golf Club remains interesting throughout.

The doglegs demand precise drives (such as the 14th – if you clear the water hazard you may be in with a birdie chance) and par 3’s guarded by water or sand traps (such as 6th and 13th respectively) form quality tests of golf.

Water is featured on nine holes and approximately 60 bunkers of varying shapes and sizes ensure your skills continually are tested.

The elevated tees on the 11th (yellow and white tee) provide an enjoyable vista over the attractive course.

Excellent drainage makes provides good year round playability.

Temporary tees and greens are rarely used.

With the 9th and 18th both finishing close to the clubhouse, you can enjoy a short stroll to our friendly bar for a refuel or a relaxing wind down.

Whilst there is non pro shop, small golf accessories are available for purchase in the clubhouse.

The patio provides an enjoyable setting with views across the course.

Little Gem

Great little course, with every hole different, with some quite interesting approach to the greens, the greens are in great condition the fairways were very dry due to the weather, overall a great course well worth playing.

Little Gem

Great tricky course makes you think about your game, has a bit of everything, tight dog legs, water , hidden holes, would of helped a bit if I had played it before, not much sand in bunkers, the course is well worth playing.

Interesting course

Interesting course with plenty of ditches and water hazards to catch any errant shots. Par 3's also more challenging than normal and require both distance and accuracy!

Nice steady round

Given the time of year the course was in decent condition. Very welcoming and lovely club house and bar, good service. Greens varied on the round which is understandable given how wet it has been. Very flat and steady course. looks like lots of work is currently being done so will be great to see what it looks like this summer.

Nice flat course

Course is well maintained with plenty of trees and water hazards, greens in good condition. Holes 11 & 12 are quite close to the M4 motorway. Club house is comfortable if a little tired.

There are some large areas of ground under repair

Fantastic Course

Very underestimated golf course which has had extensive work completed on it over the last couple of years resulting in championship standard fairways to what has always been a challenging course.
Staff always make you feel welcome and never out of place no matter what handicap you are.

Only second time I’ve played at Theale, first occasion felt it was poor due to greens not in good shape. However on this round greens we’re good and looked after so great improvement
