Not worth ?36
I think some of the previous negative comments are slightly harsh... dependant on time of year (autumn) you have to let the grass grow and sometimes the fairways and first cut can be difficult to identify.I played yesterday (midweek April spring day) and the fairways were mown and greens too. The bunkers had decent amount of sand, and on the whole, the course is in fair/good condition.
Off the fairway and into the rough, things are unkept and tatty, and signage is poor, especially between 9 &10...
I personally feel ?36 (midweek rate) is a bit steep, considering other courses offer better quality for similar/less money.

Nice course with just a few really super holes
Played with a couple of work buddies who are members which brought the green fee down to £27 which was a fair price. The condition of the course was great, nice lush fairways and the greens were very nice....quite fluffy grass which I'm used to and the greenkeepers do not shave the hole so the grass overgrows which makes the hole appear smaller - so a clever technique :-)Some holes were nice/fairly ordinary/wide fairways so single figure players can tear it up I feel. But the good holes here really made up for anything ordinary about the others. The par 3 6th over a hidden stream (dont be short) followed by the real risk/reward 7th are some of the best of the front 9. I really liked the 11th. A real strategic drive from an elevated tee and approach needed to an amazing green (the only one I 3 putted) with danger off the right of the green with a pond. This is a super hole and really reminded me of the Forest of Arden in Warwickshire and the walk to the green to the left is like the lovely heathland views at Formby ladies course on Merseyside. Then green on the short 12th is amazing with a bunker right in the middle. How often do you find the green with an approach only to get your wedge out to chip a bunker to get to the flag on the other side of the green?? One of the best greens I've seen!
This is not a long course, nor is it a boomer's course - it is a thinking course. I enjoyed it. I'd recommend it if in the area as they have nice friendly staff too and a small, cute/friendly club house (+ good short game practice facilities too!), and just 5 mins off the M4.
I hear the £900 membership is one of the best value in the area esp with Reading GC being closed at the moment.

Lovely course, friendly welcome
The driveway into the club is unprepossessing, but don't be fooled - this is a lovely course, with a very friendly welcome in the clubhouse. Fairways were reasonably forgiving/wide and quite dry, allowing the ball to run. Greens were consistent speed despite slightly mottled appearance and the odd bare patch. I found a couple of bits of water that I couldn't see from the tee, and most holes provide challenge without being impossible to play. Would definitely play again, played well under my handicap!(Round played: Jul 2020 - Score: 81 Handicap: 14.9)

Course is greatly improved by the dedicated groundsmen. A lot of work has gone into clearing scrub and tidying and it is now a very pleasant outlook. Greens are playing well and have been looked after well, especially after the very dry weather.Reviewer Rating
