What the club says: Waterloo Course - This picturesque and mature course takes you through woodland and parkland and features several trademark holes. A birdie opportunity awaits you on the very first hole of the Waterloo course, a lengthy par five which requires an accurate tee shot as a dry ditch traverses the fairway. Water is a challenge on the course too, especially at the par three 5th where a lake guards the tilted green. The front 9 is deemed to be the easier of the two. Try to make your score and then hang on through the back 9 holes.
Wellington Course - The Wellington course is slightly longer than it's counterpart and consequently offers a different challenge. As the Waterloo, the Wellington course unravels it's way through ancient Hampshire woodland and landscaped parkland. Well tended fairways and manicured greens make both courses a fantastic golfing experience.

Good course
Hadn't played it for a while and so pleased to find it in good nick. Played the Waterloo, the slightly shorter of the two. Greens were quick and well kept and the rest of the course was also in good nick. Only complaint was that we were put behind a Society event and so very slow. Apparently it was switched to the Waterloo course on the day and obviously we would have booked a different tee time or played the other course if we had been advised.Reviewer Rating

Nice course
Very nice course and in decent shape. Greens were superb.. not too fast or too slow and generally running true. Few bounces on spike marks but great putting surfacesBunkers under refurbishment but when this is all complete this will be a real little gem to play
Can do with ball cleaners on the tees
Will be back again soon

Early morning golf
Took advantage of the buggy blitz for an early morning round. Both courses are fairly similar with the Wellington having more water which makes it more of a challenge. Nice course that's relatively flat.Reviewer Rating

Wellington Course (long one)
At 6127 yards it's a longish course (Waterloo is shorter and tighter) but fairly forgiving, as long as you stay out of the rough, because it is very deep rough indeed. Foot-long thick grass gives you little chance of finding your ball. Apart from that the course is fairly well maintained with excellent greens - but quite a few large areas of GUR when we played there.Reviewer Rating

It’s very bad
I’ve played here 3 times now and it consistently leaves me underwhelmed and now the condition is on par with pitch and putts you’ll find by the seaside. Tee boxes resembled a temporary car park, fairways were just ok, greens ran fairly true but were extremely slow with a lot of pitch marks and random small holes in. The trouble on the course makes it a slow laborious round with groups in front constantly looking for lost balls as the rough is waist high and even in second cuts is full of clover so even half decent shots are punished. The bunkers if they're not full of water were full of stones and extremely compact. The clubhouse has no pro shop either. The only thing that saves it is the beer is cold and the food is quite niceReviewer Rating

Grass too long!
I have played Sherfield (Waterloo) many time and always enjoyed but the green keeper has elected not to cut the rough so unless you hit straight and often long your ball is gone. A shame as most average golfers will be intimidated by the challengeReviewer Rating
