Great course, very challenging for both novice and experienced golfers. The rough is very, very rough. If you go in it, you can forget finding your ball!! :-)

First timer at Wokefield

Played course on 14 May 19. Nicely landscaped and challenging, but greens were in very poor condition and as a first timer to the course some next tee signage would have been helpful.

worth playing

Hadn't played the course for a while and played just front 9 with a mate.
Course in very good nick and greens fine and quick. Very good value at the right price.

Fairly Open with massive bunkers...

Nice course with an interesting layout. Fairly open so would appeal to players with higher handicaps, but for those single figure handicaps, it?s a nice day out, but not a particularly challenging course.

Course currently suffering with diseased greens, and there is evidence of work to combat this issue, but the greens are a bit scabby...as are the Tee boxes, for which there is less evidence of remedial work. The fairways are good. The bunkers have a good level of sand and no major issues with stones. If you veer past the 2nd cut, you won?t find your ball in the long grass...!

Needs some work...

I have played this course several times as I like the layout and varied challenge but haven't played in the last 2 years. The course condition was the poorest I've seen it in. Greens varied in colour and pace and very uneven, the tee boxes were the worst I've played on in many years with some covered in weeds and there were weeds growing in bunkers. Perhaps they will name the holes like at Augusta, but Dandelion, Moss, and Clover just don't have the same appeal.

The course is recovering from a long winter but it imperative that you find the fairways as the second cut and rough very very difficult to play from and the greens are unpredictable.

Good and Bad

Stayed on a Sunday Driver deal, and the value of that was great. Did the same deal 2 years back, and expected the same again.
Accommodation wise it was, if not better. The course on the other hand was a bit of a let down.

Greens were in terrible condition, bobbly, slow and riddled with untreated pitch marks (Could be time of year).
The rough was ridiculous in length, it was almost fairway or lost ball, no middle ground. Losing a ball 10yds short of the green inst fun, and members of the group behind gave up and headed to the 19th as a result.

Nice track

This is a really nice, challenging course. Parkland style, fairly long, alot of sand, PGA standard.

High handicappers may struggle at time if playing stroke play. Low handicappers will be coming up with all sorts of excuses.....Course management key here. Great greens - good pace. Pace of play was slow, but all five slow groups let us play through so good etiquette observed though lots of pitch marks. Half way house is excellent.

Great value stay

Course was not in the best of condition (not many are at the moment) but definitely playable and was an interesting layout. Plenty of bunkers and water. Drinks were expensive but if you were staying you had 20% off the bar bill, pint of Peroni was £4:50. Evening meal was excellent but breakfast awful due to the food being cold. Rooms and service good. £99 was a great deal for 2 rounds, bed and breakfast and evening meal.

Mr

Over used course with battered tees and tired greens. The food and drink were over-priced as usual, but the worst aspect was the very poor quality food and service. Cold food, cold plates, dried up chicken or a burger. Prawn starter still frozen. Alternatively, you could enjoy the pleasure of cold vegetable soup. All in all - atrocious. If you hate food and don’t much care about the golf either, you might like the place. I will never return,

Mr Mel Atkinson

The course is suffering from a lack of maintenance tees and pathways the greens are in fairly good condition the very hot weather has played a part in the poor overall condition.
