Enjoyed the layout of your course but greens were in terrible condition with worm casts everywhere.Reviewer Rating

Standards
I was a member of Sherdley Park golf club for many years and I have to say that the work that has been done on the 'New layout' from holes 14 to the 18th Tee is extremely good and challenging. However, The bunkers were quite frankly a disgrace, weeds were growing in many and the golfers using hem do not know what a rake is for. There were two groups of 5 lads playing together and a group of 4 was sent to the 9th tee by the lad in the shop because the 1st tee was packed with waiting golfers. I had to inform them that they could not tee off in front of us as we had just played the 8th hole.Reviewer Rating

Decent Enough But Issues
Not bad overall but definitely one I would play differently if I came back. The newer part of the course has potential to be really nice when it is all properly bedded in. Greens were decent on that part of the course. The rest of it is just a bit scruffy in places, few bunkers missing rakes, areas that have been cut and bits missed. It has quite a few short holes too where you would normally maybe have one or two sub-300 yard par 4's there are about 4/5 which isn't ideal. We played in a society and the watches / GPS systems were all different all the time so never quite sure how far you had, doesn't help when the 150 marker is clearly about 20 yards out too. This was a common complaint amongst our 20 golfers. Off the course the bar / restaurant is excellent. Really nice and food was very good with a really good selection of beer. Downside is that there is no locker room / shower so you are festering with sweat and sun cream whilst you eat / drink. If it is essentially a muni with muni prices then you can't argue to be fair, would be one of the better ones. If it is more of a club then it could do with a bit more TLC on the course and a locker room.

Could be a decent course
Found that it was a free for all where the first tee is located as I saw players go straight from their vehicle to the first tee , we paid our green fees on line and found over 16 players on the first teeReviewer Rating

So much potential
The layout here is excellent unfortunately the new holes just haven’t bedded in. The new fairways are awful, too much pea gravel has left bare patches everywhere. Needs completely reseeding and a layer of good topsoil to fix. Completely destroyed a gap wedge by taking a divot. Greens however were great as were bunkers.Reviewer Rating

Winter mats awful to play off
Been and played sherdley park for the 1st time in a while, we played off the winter mats which some weren't level and had no slits on opposite side off mat for a lefthander, most of the course was roped off around the greens and the course was boggy in places which all is understandable at this time of year, have to say greens where pretty good for this time of year though. My overall thought was its still pricey for winter condition golf but it wouldn't stop me playing the again because the course is a good challenge with a good variety of easy and hard holesReviewer Rating

Promising but still a little disappointing
First time I’ve played Sherdley Park since they redeveloped the back 9.Pro’s. You can see they have got a grip of the drainage issues. Playing early February was surprised how dry it was.
Greens were excellent for the time of year.
Fairways were ok and had held up well.
The new holes are challenging and interesting.
Cons. The litter. Please employ someone to litter pick the edges of the fairways and bushes. It looks awful.
The scorecard doesn’t have a map so the route of the new holes is quite confusing.
The 16th fairway is awful. What is the deal with the pea gravel? Every divot you see is full of gravel. I hit a wedge into the green and it scratched the bottom of the wedge really badly. Not great if you have just spent £££ on new bats.
More pathways. Please install a few more paths with some decent surfacing between some of the holes. Some of the paths you have are incredibly uneven and muddy.
I love the clubhouse, it’s stunning but your pro shop is like a cave. Awful.
Conclusion. Much promise, will play it again in summer when it’s dry and manicured but £25 for a midweek winter green fee is not great value.

The course has improved loads since time and the new hole configuration makes for a challenging back 9. Greens we’re in great condition if a little slow and lots of work been done on the boggy holes to firm up the fairways. The bunkers look like they need some work with little to no sand in some. One was more like a water trap with reeds growing (p4 7th).
The new clubhouse facilities are excellent and the post round food and drinks very nice. The golf shop is well stocked and a big improvement. There are now golf carts available as well.
My biggest gripe is there seems way too many on the course with insufficient time between groups we were in a queue of 3 groups at the first hole it wasn’t until the 12th hole we were not queing to tee off and on the front 6 there was often two groups waiting in front of us at every hole (all 2-balls). The pair in front of us walked off after the 8th. The round took over 4.5 hours and was very frustrating waiting on almost every hole
I would like to play here again but will wait to see if the booking of a tee time is improved
