Course holding up despite the weather, greens very fast.
Rye Hill is a golf course, not a social hub. The course is long and wide so caters for high and low handicaps. Currently the country we is in excellent shape and the greens are getting faster. Pace of play is around four and a quarter hours for a four ball though most go out in twos and threes. The staff are friendly and accommodating and the Professional is a great asset.
Come and try one of the best courses in North Oxfordshire, you are sure to return.

Excellent Value
Summary: Friendly staff, Long parkland course, a bit scruffy here and there, but overall worth the money. We were welcomed with Bacon sandwiches, and coffees with good prompt service. The pro shop were relaxed and friendly. Good start.
We teed up not expecting much, as some reviews have indicated poor greens and tee boxes etc. We were pleasantly surprised with the condition and beauty of the course, and were very happy with the price.
Don’t get me wrong, the greens and tee boxes could have done with a bit of TLC, but absolutely playable for the average handicap golfer, for this price.
The length of the course was very demanding, but open enough to spray some drives and not be penalised too harshly. I imagine if they grow the rough up and add wind it would be brutal.
The one thing I did notice was the worm holes on the tees and surrounding areas, and the animal damage. It indicates a lack of pesticide investment, which some would argue is a good thing, I sit on the fence on that one, it just looks a bit scruffy!
We had a great day, I am an 8 handicap, and it was good enough for me, I don’t see how anyone can really complain for the price.

Unacceptable
We are a nationwide golf society that travels the U.K. playing golf. We had originally heard good things about Rye Hill so decided we would book a golf day.Leading up to the day we started to see bad reviews of the course so we called the pro shop and asked for an honest opinion on the course condition and we were a shored the course was in good condition but the fairways are slight scorched. We took this in good faith and proceeded with the day.
When arrived the general feel was good until we got on the course, the tee boxes were so uneven the they are boarderline dangerous, fairways haven’t been cut and in places are overgrown and the green are completely unplayable not cut, diseased and bare in places.
All in all our experience is pretty embarrassing for us has we try to put the best days on for our members we had no help from the club and they just didn’t want to know.
I would avoid this course at all costs

Worst Course Played Ever
Played the course with 27 other blokes in a society game on Saturday 11th September 2021. Have to say unfortunately one of the worst courses we have ever played, fairways looked like they hadn’t been mowed in a week, greens are in poor condition they claim it’s due to weather but definitely signs of some sort of disease affecting them. The signage for the holes is poor and some of the Tee boxes are a sight to behold not a blade of grass in sight on the 17th Tee. The 16th is a complete blind shot can’t even see the fairway due to the bushes being so overgrown in front of the Tee. On a plus side the food before and after was decent.Reviewer Rating

Very poor customer service
I was very disappointed with Rye Hill golf club. Very disappointed with the attitude of the pro shop staff today. The course was extremely busy which is good but there was no one Marshalling the flow of players. After playing 13 holes which took FIVE hours I gave up and complained at the pro shop but the attitude was so what, I remember when Rye Hill was a premium course but has gone down hill and can be now classed as a council course all about the money and not the players and staff..Reviewer Rating

Cracker
I really enjoyed this course, it was in fantastic condition. Most of the holes are tree lined, so you have to be accurate .
Equally accuracy to the greens is important, as they are quite small in places & a lot of them have drop offs to the back & sides.
The back 9 is better than the front 9, particularly 13 to 16
10/10 to Ian the greenkeeper, who looked after me as I had arrived before the pro shop was open. He couldn't have been more helpful.
I found it a really fair test of golf & would recommend it to beginners & more advanced golfers.
