Not a course to visit.

Abundantly clear when visiting this is a Spa and Hotel that happens to still have a golf course attached. Course is poorly kept. Long fairways, patchy grass and unplayable bunkers make what could be an accessible short and interesting golf course unpleasant.

Club has a warning of slow play that may not even go far enough. Prepare for 5+ hours.

Plenty of other golf courses in the area to play for a similar price point.

A tricky challenge

A look at the card suggests this should not be too difficult a course, but the 10 of us who visited for two days this week enjoyed the challenge. It has a nice layout, which is tree-lined without being overly intimidating, but this week it was very windy and the course is bone-dry, With sloping fairways, the wind and bounce made it tough to keep the ball on the fairways - although the greens were in pretty good condition. Staff are friendly, so it was an enjoyable, great -value visit.

Some superb holes. The 9s have been switched to stop people jumping on at the first without paying. We got to the 10th ( 1st) and found two groups between us and the group we had been following. Pace of play very slow after this. Nearly two hours to complete the last 6 holes. A starter would help the sneaks who get a free game and a course Marshall would help pace of play.

Great course for a golf break

Stayed overnight for a 2-rounds, room, dinner and breakfast. Course in good condition despite 4 days of solid rain, slightly exposed to the wind on a few of the holes. Fairways in very good condition, greens OK but some patches and repair needed - some multi-tiered, slopped and fast considering. Tees had good grass cover but long. Not much water or peril, bunkers plentiful on fairways and around greens. Course is rolling and has a valley through it which present some hills - hole designs are varied and interesting. Buggys OK. Pace of play felt good, didn't feel pressured at all - everyone very friendly. Pro shop has essentials but limited choice.

Played at the Cotswold club Sunday afternoon 14.38 tee time the course was in good condition greens ran fine fairways fine. The only complaint was the poor condition of the bunkers little or no sand making a greenside splash shot very difficult. It's a problem at most clubs very frustrating but easily solved

Surprisingly Good!

Two day club visit to a great venue! Course in very good condition and held up well to the awful and wet weather we had there!!
Interesting course and fair but tough! All in great condition with very quick and firm greens which made them difficult to hold.
Accommodation is good with small but clean and well appointed rooms. No hair dryers to dry wet golf equipment though!
Food was very good and helped cater for my gluten free requirements.
Overall all really enjoyed the stay and we will be coming back!
Thanks

Cotswold Golf Course

The front nine is a true test of your golfing ability and you really to need to think about where you need to land the ball of the tee (dont always use driver). Saying that some of the holes (hole 3) are lovely looking holes. The back nine is a lot easier on the legs but is still a good challenge. Has a great time with a great bunch of lads, the staff are great and the course was in good condition even after all the rain.

Challenging

Good course with varying challenges. Good greens, roll well - pace of play pretty slow and whilst reversing the order of the nines may help speed that up, some holes will always have delays due to their difficulty.

Well worth a visit

Terrific course. Playing in late October brought the usual leaves, uneven grass / ground and soft ground but the greens were in fantastic nick. The front nine is tough, starting with SI 7 & 3 so get through those without trouble and you're doing well.
Rest of the course is really enjoyable.
The pro and the members we talked to were very friendly and helpful. However, being a resort course the pace of play gremlin rears its head. They are trying to do something about it by experimenting with starting on the tenth. Hope it works out, but our round did take 4 & 3/4 hrs.
The hotel is excellent. Modern and comfortable. The staff here are very good too.

Great course ? but!

A lovely course and the setting is fantastic. However, we had 2 rounds which took 5 hrs and 4 1/2 hrs. The course is always packed with 4 balls and in each group maybe 1 has a hcp under 28. You?d never be a member here, it's business plan is weddings, weekend warriors in large groups and it's does it well. Dinner was good. Lunch was actually shocking. ?6.90 Ham sandwich, two thin slices of bread, one slice of processed ham, a smudge of mustard and half a packet of crisps on the side. Must have cost 30p. Other than avoiding lunch, it's a really nice place. Except the long game and you'll have a great weekend!
