Poor course

Only played front 10, so maybe last 8 are much better & some of my criticism is unfair.
The first 6 holes are just non descript & might as well as hit a ball up & down a long field. Probably didn't help that it was the middle of winter after a week of rain, but no difference between fairways, rough & tee areas!! Greens, just not worth putting on, forget chipping, as flags were all 3 ft from front & aprons were mostly mud. Bunkers covered in weeds & edges look like not cut for months.
7th was first proper 'golf hole' as gorse gave a bit of character. 8, 9 & 10 slightly better than first 6. It's a shame as they have so much space the course with some money spent on 'features' & more greenkeepers, could be made good.
At least the course was empty as it was minus 1 and windy.
I have played here before about 5 years ago, & remember thinking then, won't go out my way to play it again. Couldn't be more different from their adjoining neighbours.
Pro shop were friendly.

Course holding up despite the weather, greens very fast.

Rye Hill is a golf course, not a social hub. The course is long and wide so caters for high and low handicaps. Currently the country we is in excellent shape and the greens are getting faster. Pace of play is around four and a quarter hours for a four ball though most go out in twos and threes.
The staff are friendly and accommodating and the Professional is a great asset.
Come and try one of the best courses in North Oxfordshire, you are sure to return.

Looking good

Long but fairly open. Some tricky greens (never be past the pin). Probably the best course in North Oxfordshire.
Due to the current situation catering is not up to the usual standard. The staff are very friendly and helpful and a warm welcome is assured.
Enjoy.

Still the best course in North Oxfordshire.

The course is in excellent shape. The rough has been cutback and the greens are running true. More work is required on the bunglers but under the present conditions they are not too bad. The clubhouse is not open, except for the use of the facilities, but the staff will fetch drinks if required, after the round. A warm welcome is assured.

Up to speed again

As a member I might be a little biased. The new team have improved the course, the hospitality and have increased the numbers. Currently the course is in excellent shape and the greens are running a lot faster. The course is very popular with societies. Both high and low handicaps will enjoy Rye Hill.8

Probably the best course in North Oxfordshire

As I have been a member since just after it opened, I would say that wouldn't I.

The course is quite long off the white, but if you're like me and most of the other "Seniors" the yellow or blue tees are more to our liking. Given the time of year the course is a very good condition.

The course is has wide fairways so if you are just starting, or spray your drives around you could get away with it. The greens are good, some tricky with hidden bumps and hollows. It is a good test.

The staff are excellent and will do anything you ensure you enjoy your round,

Golf at its best!

A fabulously peaceful rural setting with views across the Oxfordshire countryside, although not busy on the Saturday afternoon I visited, this was an excellent ‘find’. Long course but some great driving holes to good wide fairways, starting quite flat but that changes, so save some energy for later! Being very well maintained throughout, with good tees, bunkers, large greens and just the sounds of nature to accompany, this is how golf should be played. With the friendly service I received in the clubhouse there was nothing not to enjoy.... play here before everyone else knows about this course, you will not be disappointed!

Wow, what a great experience all round.

Excellent pro shop and facilities, including a driving range.

Staff were very professional, knowledgeable and helpful.

This course is a gem, played early November and the greens, fairways and general condition of the course was excellent and far better than some other local courses I've played recently given the time of the year.

The layout is great, I played off the white tees and as a relatively long hitter was able to get my moneys worth using my driver which Im not used to. The fairways are wide enough to offer you that little bit of encouragement if needed. There are also a range of tees to cater for all abilities.

The greens were true and fast, even with a bit of damp (it was a rainy day).

I would highly recommend this course. I had a great time and will be back soon.

Rye Hill was in excellent condition, fairways were very lush and greens rolled beautifully.
Plenty of space to get the driver out but also plenty of rough and trees if too far off line.
Fairly easy walking on the front 9 but hilly on the back.
Lots of pretty views of the local area.
It was a good test off the back tees.

We were made very welcome by the mixed group of members we played with and all thoroughly enjoyed our round.

Would highly recommend visiting Rye Hill and look forward to visiting again soon.

Golfshake Team ReviewLovely course in the Oxfordshire countryside not far from Banbury. I organised a society golf day for 28 golfers and we all had a great time receiving a warm and friendly welcome from everyone at the venue who ensured we had a great day.

The course is well maintained, nice fairways which aren't that punishing in terms of wide or the rough and nice large greens. Off the yellows this is still a reasonable length course so offers a nice test of golf. The holes are varied enough to ensure you don't just plod your way around the course but have to do some thinking!

Well worth a visit and would definitely go back if I was in the area given the quality and value for money.
