One of the few course that are completely playable after the wet winte
Apart from 2 greens, the 5th and 16th, the course was fully opened and no real sign of the rain that had fallen. Mainly due to Chalky ground which drains exceptionally well. Considering the course was under threat of closure , together with Waterhall (which is now closed for good 31/3/20), the course was being well maintained. Greens were a little long but that is not a surprise considering the winter conditions. As long as it stays open this will be the obvious course to play if other courses are waterlogged.Reviewer Rating

Traditional South Downs Course
Great test of golf on a traditional downland course. Stunning views from most holes. A lot of effort is being put into this course from new owners post lockdown(Very noticeable work on good greens and surrounds bearing fruit having been left rundown) A little walked on by locals not sticking to paths but should improve as more regular golf traffic plays. Glad to have put this on my golf CV.Reviewer Rating

Good South Downs Course
Very friendly club house. Winter mats are small on all tees. Course drains well being on the downs. Greens need some work. Challenging course in the sea breeze. Long rough can be a challenge. 16th and 17th holes run along the side of a road with no netting or barrier can be a little of putting!Reviewer Rating

As it is situated on top of a hill at any given point you have either views of the sea or the downs through 180 degrees. I can imagine on a really cold day with a wind blowing you will need a few layers!
Previous reviews criticize next hole and hole number markers. This is a fair criticism as I myself following 2 members (playing a disjointed 9 holes) ended up making a wrong turn after 8 and playing the last 4 holes and then being pointed in the right direction by 2 very friendly and helpful members meaning I finished on the 14th eventually!
Really nice course that on a sunny day is a pleasure. But be warned there are many dog walkers popping up particularly at the top of the course, they were like Man Utd fans, everywhere! However all were very courteous and waited etc. unlike a few other courses I have played on!
Nice course, good value for money, fantastic views, will be returning soon.

The greens were generally quick and true, and the fairways were pretty reasonable too. The bunkers could do with a bit of work on them though, and the practise green certainly wasn't the best.
The bar and shop is a little basic, and it was disappointing that a clubhouse in such a prime spot should have so few windows to take advantage of its position. The staff were all very friendly though, and it looked like a club where people seem to get on with each other.
Overall I liked the course and intend going back again soon.

Lovely views
The course was nice and lovely views around Brighton. The fairways are quite wide. It is quite hilly. They could do with some course markers and telling you which way to the next hole. They could also do with some rubbish bins on the tees.Reviewer Rating
