Fairly simple parkland course, especially suitable for higher handicaps. Some challenge in places with tricky greens and water. Decent clubhouse and great cakes. A bit of an odd layout in places so don't miss out a hole! Deals available making it excellent value.

Course is very wet in certain places, but is slowly drying out. For the time of year it isn't in bad condition at all.
As always there could be more done on the course i.e. From green to tee could be better maintained there was some holes in quite a state around the tee boxes.

Played this week (for the first time in years). The course is much drier than it used to be so they must have resolved some drainage issues. Greens in top condition for the time of year and overall a tricky course well maintained and an excellent challenge. Improvements to the facilities are fabulous, apparently with more to come (new pro shop and changing rooms I am told). Great place to go and just socialise and eat with the family if it is too cold for Golf!

One of the best Pay & Play courses I have played on! When played there was a fair degree of casual water but taking into account recent weather it was understandable.
Only one green was of a dubious quality but this seems to be have been caused by drainage work so am sure it will soon be sorted. I left a lot of putts out on the course, all my fault having been fooled by the greens not unfair lumps & bumps.
Only a few holes require a driver, so not sure about the criticism of the rough by other reviewers, surely the rough is there to help defend the course by looking for accuracy off the tee, if it cannot be defended by length?
If you want a good value round to sharpen up all elements of your game away from the practice range and practice green - give it a go.
For the record, this was my first outing for a few years with an "old" handicap of 10 and shot an 82, planning my next outing there for early July!

Warm sunny day and the course looked ok. The greens were quite slow and very sandy. The biggest problem was the rough which was very long even just off the fairway meaning anything that was not on the fairway was almost impossible to find. Between three of us we lost about 10 balls most of which were not due to poor shots. Very frustrating, and caused a slow round as everyone was having similar problems

Worst course I have ever played.

Well, I have to say what a disappointing experience I had at the golf course this weekend. It is safe to say the course should have been closed.

I appreciate there has been a lot of rain recently and the fairways are far from being able to be cut, but I've never played a course in worse conditions.
The fairways would grace most courses as areas around the unkempt tee boxes. The tee boxes, when you could see the markers were as long as some of the fairway grass and had not been kept or tidied for some time. The moss on the greens were happy with the wet conditions. No matter where you walked it was a quagmire. Even the greens sank beneath your feet to allow water to rise.

So why did I continue to play? This weekend I was sleeping out rough for charity and had an opportunity to visit a course in the vicinity rather lay underneath a cardboard box I thought I would visit a course.

What is worse than the course in the condition it was is that hidden within the website is an acknowledgement that the courses irrigation system has failed and the owners are aware, that the course needs investment and designer is earmarked to come in and transform it.... knowingly charging the same rates.

I think this nugget of information should be advertised more prominently. I wish I had taken the green fees and just donated it to the charity I was supporting as it would have made a better difference elsewhere!

Hi Neil
Sorry you didn't enjoy your game here with us recently. It has been the wettest winter in my 25+ years as a Golf Professional. We have been borderline open/closed for a lot of March, it has been exceptionally frustrating for all concerned.
We simply cannot get the mowers out to cut the grass, therefore we try to be open, if we can, as well as honest about course conditions.
As you booked online it doesn't offer you the human interaction, which is not your fault.
I'd love for you to come back as our guest and enjoy the course as it is improving every day

Hadn't played here in some time. Course in ok condition but very wet in places which I suspected might be the case from previous experience. Bunkers out of play for same reason. Still a generally enjoyable round save for losing a couple of balls that plugged. Decent value at £32 on a Saturday afternoon. Will likely revisit when dryer next summer.
