Worst course I have ever played.
Well, I have to say what a disappointing experience I had at the golf course this weekend. It is safe to say the course should have been closed.I appreciate there has been a lot of rain recently and the fairways are far from being able to be cut, but I've never played a course in worse conditions.
The fairways would grace most courses as areas around the unkempt tee boxes. The tee boxes, when you could see the markers were as long as some of the fairway grass and had not been kept or tidied for some time. The moss on the greens were happy with the wet conditions. No matter where you walked it was a quagmire. Even the greens sank beneath your feet to allow water to rise.
So why did I continue to play? This weekend I was sleeping out rough for charity and had an opportunity to visit a course in the vicinity rather lay underneath a cardboard box I thought I would visit a course.
What is worse than the course in the condition it was is that hidden within the website is an acknowledgement that the courses irrigation system has failed and the owners are aware, that the course needs investment and designer is earmarked to come in and transform it.... knowingly charging the same rates.
I think this nugget of information should be advertised more prominently. I wish I had taken the green fees and just donated it to the charity I was supporting as it would have made a better difference elsewhere!

Just the one visit for me. All the Best and good luck sorting out some drainage. It's like playing in a rice field!

Would NOT recommend
Played on the 13th sep. greens were in terrible condition, almost felt unmaintained and the course layout was really odd and felt a bit micky mousey. Not good value for money and really annoyed we weren’t made aware of the state of the course and offered a discount. I personally would not play again or recommendReviewer Rating

Poor condition even for the money
Have played a few times over the last 4-6 months with friends who are just getting into golf as it is one of the cheaper courses locally. However, even £15 for 9 holes on a twilight tee time feels difficult to justify with the state of the greens and tee boxes... Found myself assuring my friends that “most courses are in much better condition”.Nice enough staff and has some pretty holes which I do enjoy, it really is a shame!

Very disappointed
Played Blacknest a week ago having booked 4 tee times for 16 players. The greens were dreadful. At least 5 of them had GUR patches and 1 green had the a GUR patch all the way through... so you couldn’t drop in a logical place. Worst of all, none of this was mentioned to me when booking and no discount rate was offered. In fact on the day, the pro said the greens had been worked on recently and we’re now fine. A compete lie. Every course I have played in the past would admit to the condition of the course and offer a discount, especially to a group. Seems they wanted money more than good reputation or repeat custom.Reviewer Rating

Mudbath - AVOID
Regrettably played this course on Saturday 27th January 2018 – we walked in after 11 holes due to it being a mud bath. There was no difference between the length of the grass on the fairways and the rough and there was what appeared to be a rabbit scrape in the middle of one of the greens. There was slippery mud everywhere, pools of water which were impossible to avoid. THIS COURSE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN OPEN (if only to protect the course). We spoke to someone working in the professional shop once we had changed out of our dirty clothing and his response was “you are entitled to your opinion” – not exactly decent customer service.
We spoke to a local in the car park afterwards and he said that the course is well known in the area for being in this condition and “unplayable” for at least 3 months of the year.
PLAY IT AT YOUR PERIL.

Service poor - no notification at booking of the event taking place and no gesture of apology by the club - apparently it's our fault for booking online
Shame as the course is in a decent condition considering the time of year and recent weather
