Course was in very good condition, even though it had rained the whole day previous. This was a groupon round so excellent value for money (£19 for 2 ball). Overall a great day and would recommend to anyone.

Golf Course Reviews for Blacknest Golf Club
Not too long a course, with some very picturesque holes. The type of course that tests you to use every club in the bag. Plenty of water scattered around and plenty of soft sand in the bunkers. At this time of year, after the baking hot sunshine, the fairways are looking a bit dry and sorry for themselves, but that will no doubt improve with a fair amount of rain. The real test on the course are the greens. Lots of small greens and a lot of undulations on them as well. Very nice clubhouse and pleasant staff. My only criticism of Blacknest is that the tees are pretty awful and could do with a fair amount of work to them. All in all a very nice course and would recommend a visit.

Although the course is fairly short, 5478 yards from the yellows, it is far trickier than you might first think. The frequently tree lined fairways aren't the widest, but there's a good mix of holes, and quite a few of them where there are opportunities to drop shots. Water, ditches and bunkers play a part on most holes.
The greens aren't huge, but they were in a very decent condition, and with the recent hot/dry weather it made finding them a little awkward.
The clubhouse is on the smaller side, but it is very friendly and the food was good, and the welcome there and in the proshop was very pleasant.
I certainly intend going back again soon!

Although a bit short this is a tricky course due to lots of water and plenty of trouble if you miss the fairway. The greens were mainly good condition and very fast .
Played recently with some friends and had a great time, course in really good condition and well suited to a mix of abilities. Staff very friendly, clubhouse lovely and modern. Well worth a visit.
The greens where very hard needs watering but fair,
fairways spot on will be back next year with society.ps staff and pro shop brilliant .

Regrettably played this course on Saturday 27th January 2018 – we walked in after 11 holes due to it being a mud bath. There was no difference between the length of the grass on the fairways and the rough and there was what appeared to be a rabbit scrape in the middle of one of the greens. There was slippery mud everywhere, pools of water which were impossible to avoid. THIS COURSE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN OPEN (if only to protect the course).
We spoke to someone working in the professional shop once we had changed out of our dirty clothing and his response was “you are entitled to your opinion” – not exactly decent customer service.
We spoke to a local in the car park afterwards and he said that the course is well known in the area for being in this condition and “unplayable” for at least 3 months of the year.
PLAY IT AT YOUR PERIL.

a nice course a bit damp in areas but we had rain the night before the greens were in very nice shape and ran quite fast but a great course with a few water hazards that get in way if you can hit it nice and straight its a course that you can make a nice score

Played this course a few times and always enjoyed it. Not too easy but great for high handicappers.

A really picturesque walk, nice and flat so not too taxing and makes for a very enjoyable round.
Thoroughly recommend the course
Course played really well kept in excellent condition greens, friendly staff who really looked after us all day.
would definitely recommend, one off my favorite courses
I have played Blacknest many times and have never been disappointed, the greens are in great shape as is the rest of the course, friendly staff in pro shop & bar, couldn't fault the Ham, egg and chips we had after. Overall great value & well worth a visit.
Have a society here once a year and try and play it a couple of additional times during the season. Latest visit on June tees were to put it mildly unkempt. The first tee was a disgrace for a hole that should give you a good impression.
Overall the course was not as good as it has been in previous years. The meal for our society was inedible, we got a full refund!
Personally I would suggest Worldham nearby. Maybe not as picturesque but the course is in far better condition, and the food is far and away superior. They are people who care at Worldham.
I doubt we will be returning.
First visit - course OK, bit quirky in places, but overall enjoyable. Greens good, fairways good, first cut of rough sensible and ball always found, but the tees, yoiks, pretty darn awful! - especially the first, long grass as well as bare and uneven - first impressions and all that. So as a course, OK and worth a visit if in the area. However, badly let down off the course, pro shop small and little stock, Kitchen closes at 3.00 WHAT??!! so only thing available at 5.00 was a sausage roll, so ordered that until I was charged £2.50 for it - no way, in fact had I not had my money back for the most expensive Sausage Roll in Christendom, I would have handed over £6.50 for a pint and a Sausage roll - £4 a pint? - So, whilst I would like to play the course again at some time, the prices for the catering and their restricted hours would prevent me from doing so. Also, £24 for a county card visit is a bit steep - sad, because the catering and costs will downgrade a nice course.
