This is a challenging course with quite a lot of water, but the greens and tees are poor. Put me off when wedding party we’re playing with their children on the 18th green. Bar staff weren’t overly friendly either! Shame because it’s quite a good course..

Course apart from greens and tees in great condition.
Greens had been plugged and were very bobbly. Could do with heavy watering as too dry in places.

Pay for what you get

Played here Bank Holiday Monday. We took advantage of the twilight offer and so played 18 holes for £15 each. Course was fairly quiet and we got round nice and quickly with no waiting. The main points we moaned about the entire way round were the state of the tee boxes and the greens.

There was no mention when paying that the greens had been hollow tined. They were impossible to putt on. A three footer was impossible, with the ball jumping all over the place. The tee boxes were in a bit of a state. Most were not flat, with few decent patches of grass to tee a ball up on.

The course itself is OK, fairly standard up and down layout, feels like you are playing on a large field for the middle section.

But for £15 it is OK, and if the greens were better we would have been happy.

Good Track

A friend and I always enjoy our day at Blacknest GC. The pro is very helpful and friendly. Tee booking online is excellent although a call to the Pro shop just as good. Course is not too long but still a challenge.

Sunny Winters day

ave played here many times before but managed to pick a lovely sunny day in November and the course was in the best condition I have seen it. The greens, which can often be poor, were in excellent condition really helping make it a great day. If they were always like this I would play here far more often.

short but tricky course

this is a short course that bombers would easily play if they keep it straight. Position is key to avoid the water on the course. fun round to play but would be better in better weather. Good clubhouse and facilities.

Jo O'Donoghue

Staff very helpful, having had to postpone due to bad weather, they re-booked us for the following week with no issue. Despite not being able to see the first two greens due to fog, the course was in great condition. My only criticism would be the tee boxes were a little shabby. The greens were slick with some tricky pin positions. Having never played there before, I found there was a little confusion as to where the next tee was and a bit of crossing over other fairways and going back on ourselves. The guys I was playing with did question the stroke indexes on a number of holes. I didn't have an issue with this but on about 2 or 3 holes the ladies tees were at least 90 yards ahead which I felt was unnecessary
The club house facilities were fabulous. We didn't eat but the food smelt lovely. The changing room area was immaculate. Will definitely be playing there again. Great value for money.

Blacknest Golf and Country Club, worth a visit

Not too long a course, with some very picturesque holes. The type of course that tests you to use every club in the bag. Plenty of water scattered around and plenty of soft sand in the bunkers. At this time of year, after the baking hot sunshine, the fairways are looking a bit dry and sorry for themselves, but that will no doubt improve with a fair amount of rain. The real test on the course are the greens. Lots of small greens and a lot of undulations on them as well. Very nice clubhouse and pleasant staff. My only criticism of Blacknest is that the tees are pretty awful and could do with a fair amount of work to them. All in all a very nice course and would recommend a visit.

Always enjoy playing here. In reasonable condition though tee boxes could do with a bit of work. Greens were ok despite not looking the best and took some spin etc. Very good value and nice bar and clubhouse.

Lovely Parkland Course

Although the course is fairly short, 5478 yards from the yellows, it is far trickier than you might first think. The frequently tree lined fairways aren't the widest, but there's a good mix of holes, and quite a few of them where there are opportunities to drop shots. Water, ditches and bunkers play a part on most holes.

The greens aren't huge, but they were in a very decent condition, and with the recent hot/dry weather it made finding them a little awkward.

The clubhouse is on the smaller side, but it is very friendly and the food was good, and the welcome there and in the proshop was very pleasant.

I certainly intend going back again soon!
