Lovely course with great views. Very good value - £12 green fee with a member. Clubhouse food 5*. Just had my second best ever round!

Appleby is a quirky course and it may be quite confusing as to why there are electric fences around the greens, but don't let that put you off. The course offers a fantastic challenge, as well as some of the best greens in the county. The par 3 15th is definitely one to look out for. You definitely won't have played a par 3 like it before. Finally, the food is absolutely outstanding and offers the best Full English breakfast in Cumbria and if not England.Reviewer Rating

Fantastic golf course in fantastic surroundings. The course is always in tip top condition. We paid £34 per head for a Saturday day ticket, (for 9 players). Excellent value. The signature 'bell hole' par 3, 15th hole is one of my favourite holes of all the courses I've played, a 156 yard pitch over the stream and the out of bounds to a long horizontal, unseen green nestled in the dip below. Delightful. But that's just one of the many highlights here. The members and staff are always friendly and welcoming and my all day breakfast in the clubhouse was scrumptious. Nothing to criticize here, a really brilliant and enjoyable day out.

played the course on a fine day in march and was impressed on the overall condition of fairways and greens considering how much rain we had over the winter.Well worth a visit on a nice day could be a bit wild on a windy one

Good Morning Yesterday I played Appleby for first time in 30 years I have to say the course was in sublime condition. The greens were fantastic like putting on a carpet can you pass my thanks onto your green keeping staff for three obvious hard work. Also the steward and kitchen staff the roast beef was the best I\'ve had in years( just like mam used to make) and the two gentleman who gave us our cards and ran the competition superbly. I will definitely be back and will recommend your course, your staff and everybody associated with the club to all my friends. A special thanks to the professional for opening the shop at 7.45pm to let us spend our vouchers.. Thank you all for a brilliant day

Excellent venue and a real challenge (especially for me) great scenery. Greens in good condition and rough still quite low (I suspect when the bracken comes up it will become more difficult again on tyhe occiasons that you stray from the fairway!) Played with my Brother as a visitor.

Paid just £15 for a round on 27 September, 2014 albeit this was after 4pm. This represents incredible value in comparison to other courses in the area. The course was in excellent condition, greens were first class, bone dry and fast. A very quirky course with the greens fenced off, protecting them from the roaming sheep! Some great holes, I particularly like the 4th, 5th, 8th and the signature 'bell hole' 15th. Good opportunities for birdie on 12 and 13, overall, a very fair test of golf in beautiful surroundings. If I was to criticize it at all, I could say the course lacks a par 5, but that's a very minor point and in no way detracts from the pleasure of a round here. Everybody at the club was very friendly too. I would thoroughly recommend this course to everyone and I'll certainly be back.
