The attraction of East Lothian, aka Scotland’s Golf Coast, has received a further boost with confirmation that it will stay the home of the Genesis Scottish Open until 2030.

The event will continue to be staged at the Renaissance Club, close to North Berwick, which has hosted the event since 2019.

Once regarded as a warm up to the Open Championship held a week later, the event is now a major draw in its own right, attracting the world’s top golfers from the DP World Tour and PGA Tour.

Competitors in 2026 held between July 9-12 will include local favourite Bob MacIntyre, Aaron Rai and Rory McIlroy.

Scotland’s Golf Coast, a short distance from Edinburgh, stretching 30 miles along the Firth of Forth to Dunbar, is a magnet for travelling golfers worldwide all wanting the walk the same fairways as the greats of the game.

The Renaissance Club, designed by Tom Doak and opened in 2008, continues to develop, with new coastal holes added in 2013. This year sees a rerouting as the 6th becomes to 15th, adding extra challenge to the finishing stretch.

The Renaissance Club was a founder member of Scotland’s Golf Coast, a marketing alliance of golf clubs, accommodation providers and other businesses.

With 26 courses, many situated on the coast, the region is firmly established as a must play destination for golfers across the world.

From the Open venues of Muirfield and Musselburgh Links, to the famous West Links of North Berwick, 21 courses are within 30 minutes drive of each other.

Cementing the Scottish Open is a great boost for the brand as it showcases its powerful reputation.

Malcolm Duck, of Scotland’s Golf Coast said: "Another five years of the Genesis Scottish Open is fantastic news for the region. The profile of the brand has grown enormously over the past six years, and the region proudly welcomes golfers from far and wide. It’s thanks to the hard work and commitment of the greenkeepers, hoteliers, restaurateurs ad PGA professionals that make Scotland’s Golf Coast one of the best destinations in the world."
