What the club says: An Open qualifying course, the golf club was founded in 1832. It has an antiquated charm with walls, burns, yawning bunkers and commanding views out to sea and of the Forth estuary. Course designers all over the world have copied many of the testing holes.

Most Helpful Review

About as much fun as you can have on a golf course.
Quirky, interesting holes and loads of history.
Unbelievable views and great conditioning. Easily one of my favourite 10 courses (along with Lahinch, Dornoch, Perranporth, St Enodoc, Cruden Bay, Hamburg Falkenstein, St Georges Hill, Tralee and Waterville if you want the other 9) - Nov 18 2008

Should be on every golfers list
Outrageously good course, a great challenge although incredibly tough. Greens in great condition, friendly caddies, just all round top experience.

We played in very difficult conditions which was a shame, sea Haar was covering the course and only abated for about 7 or 8 holes so very misty. Having said that you could see it resembles the old course at St Andrews in many ways with fine fairways great bunkering, which I managed to avoid, don't know how ! We will definitely be returning on a better day!

The club house and staff were excellent and very welcoming. The course has magnificent views as you play along the coast. You can tell thats its an old course with the layout and features being reminiscent of other famous Scottish courses, however the overall course is very flat and doesn't really make the most of the sand dunes. A number of the holes are free land so expect to see a lot of dog walkers which can be a bit disconcerting!

Very welcoming from Malcolm and also the starter. Upon arrival Malcolm showed me where the lounge/bar was located and also where the pro shop and starters hut were located. Instantly relaxed and to make the experience even better, I was paired with a member and his guest. Very enjoyable and scenic.

Not a long course, but with any kind of wind this is an excellent challenge. Links golf at its very best with some fantastic, memorable holes (2, 9, 13, 14, 18 for starters). Agree very reminiscent of St Andrews. Great welcome and hospitality in clubhouse.

A terrific course the 1st and 18th have a very similar feel to St Andrews Old Course. You have to be a very good golfer to crack this course. Some difficult chips and putts due to the natural contouring

an amassing links golf course true deep bunkers fast greens amassing scenery we played with winter fairway mats and the starter got us on for a good price I would not pay £90 in the summer for it though even though its an amassing links golf course playing over a burn through and over walls the best part was it was dead for a Monday so we quite enjoyed having a challenge on the 16th green no other course will have a green like this one it has a massive swale unlike any other green I have played we did not go into the club house after so can not rate it
