What the club says: Musselburgh is a top class championship course designed by James Braid in 1938. The length from the championship tees is a testing 6725 yards and with a par 71, SSS 72 it is a quality test of golf. Built round a bend of the river Esk, it has relatively flat tree-lined yet generous fairways. The Craigie burn meanders over some fairways giving golfers the option of laying up short or going for the green.
To have any hope of conquering this course you have to be able to keep the ball in play while still being long off the tee. Although it is not easy, it is still a very enjoyable course to play, which is proven by the fact that many visitors return time after time

I would like to play the course earlier in the year as the fallen leaves played havoc on the greens, though overall the course is worth a visit.

Excellent
After a week of rain, the course was in excellent condition, greens were superb and tremendous drainage on everyone of them. Thoroughly recommended to play.Clubhouse was very good and friendly staff and customers made you very welcome.

A terrific old school, traditional golf club. Pro shop very welcoming on arrival and very helpful.
The course it's self was lovely, more challenging than it initially looks and in good condition considering recent heavy downpours. Greens very true.

A very nice course with 'proper' golf holes throughout. Enjoyable and reachable pars off yellows for many, however off the whites would be a much much tougher test - hence its an Open qualifier course. 'Old school' style facilities.

Played this course end of September 2015 whilst on a golf break in the area. The course was well presented and a joy to play. A good test of shot making for golfers of all abilities. The clubhouse was bright and welcoming. Staff made you feel at ease. Will play this course again soon.
