What the club says: The course measures 6502 yards, par 70, SS 72 and is situated in the heart of the renowned golfing country on the East Lothian coastline neighbouring Gullane, Muirfield and North Berwick Golf Clubs. There can be few more stimulating courses than Luffness New.
One can be astonished in middle age to walk off the 18th green feeling so invigorated and refreshed. The nature of the turf probably has something to do with this, being of the springy type which gives gently to the feet, like a rich Persian carpet. The sea air too has its beneficial qualities and the course is sensibly flat apart from minor undulations associated with seaside courses. On good days and bad, Luffness offers a feeling of escape, allied to a sense of challenge and enjoyment that few other courses can match.

Overrated
A decent enough track but more like number 116 rather than 16. Short links although not near the sea to be a true links courses. Very expensive for what it is but it’s a club that doesn’t need or really want visitors.Reviewer Rating

As always a real pleasure playing Luffness and getting out early certainly make for a quick round of golf. All greens bar the 15th immaculate.

Beautiful links course
Course very dry and fiery playing like a true links. Greens in superb condition. Very friendly welcome from the staff and excellent food.(Round played: Jun 2021 - Score: 80 Handicap: 4.4)

A hearty and traditional links course which is little recognised amongst its more famous neighbours. The fact it was designed by Old Tom Morris should tell you everything you need to know. Fast running, firm, fair and hugely enjoyable. The club is traditional, quirky and quite an experience! Seek this place out and you won't forget it!
