In the Middle of Nowhere but I’d heard a fair bit about it, course played really short, I know it’s running miles but even so it’s a short track, couple of nice holes but most very average, flew round hardly a golfer to be seen, not sure how it’s the top of the Midlands

Heard a lot about this course, layout is good but needs time to mature as currently it is very open. Greens on the back nine putted OK but very little grass on these greens which visually looked very poor and was in total contrast to the front nine greens which were good. Given the hype I was glad to play it but will not dash back to return for a few years until the course matures. Club house is very good and K.K made us very welcome.

A difficult, well manicured course with some tricky holes and lovely views. We were made very welcome and KK Downing made a point of coming onto the course for a friendly chat. Course needs time to mature. Couldn't understand why no waste bins anywhere, and no golf ball cleaners. Good breakfast, fair dinner. Changing facilities cramped.

Had been looking forward to playing here again after I last played there last year. Unfortunately it feels like the club hasn't quite recovered from going into administration. The course itself wasn't the same as last time. Needed a mowing all over. There were daisies growing on one fairway. The greens were decent bit I've known them better. I'll put that down to the heavy rain yesterday.
The club just lacks atmosphere. There can't have been more than 5 groups on the entire course which for a bank holiday would concern me as an owner. But for us made it like millionaires golf. Good deal with tee off times but definitely wouldn't pay the 45 pounds booking direct.

Overrated layout, no definition!!

Serious letdown, having wanted to play this course for 2 years, we booked up in February ready for the July comp.

The clubhouse/house is stunning and the views amazing but that's not why I'm there, I'm there for golf. very very bland layout greens OK having played some stunners lately, this was average at best. no definition to see where fairways ended and rough started.

18th the feature hole was a stunner but 1 hole in 18 doesn't make it a memorable day out, sadly the 1hr 45mins drive was wasted. I'm sure in 30 years time it will be stunning but it's a new course and very bland.

Practice facility was an overgrown field good for a wedge only and a putting green with no NET either.

Not for me and at £30 I've over paid having played plenty for £20 or less in the opens. I hope you enjoy it more than me :-(

Played 25th Oct overall a good experience but a very overated track. It's very well kept and the greens were excellent but it's very open and i mean very, the only hole with character is the 18th and for the money (especially in the summer) there are many better course with a better variety of holes within 25 miles. Ken you have work to do to get a Ryder cup here!!!!
enkoyed the day but a bit boring.

The course was in really great condition. On the 1st hole I thought, 'What a golf course'. After a while the routing got a little tiresome, with too many holes where it was tough to know where to hit it and some unplayable green contours.
It's a shame the routing wasn't done by a professional, but the condition made up for that. All in all a fun day's golf.

A bit wet but great value

Played the course on 17/02/2025, teed off just before 9am for £20 and had no one in front or behind the whole way round. Not the best draining course but the fairways weren’t too bad and the greens were good for the time of year (they had been hollow tined and sanded but played well). Bunkers for me are the best locally and weren’t affected by the wet weather. Pretty muddy anywhere off the fairways but the rough has been cut back for winter to make it a fairer challenge. All proper tees and greens in play. Think it would struggle after heavy rain in winter but off the back of a few days without too much of a downpour it was well worth the low green fee.

Great summer course only.

Lovely fairways and greens in the summer months. However any sort of prolonged rain makes the course unplayable. The greens are immaculate all year round, but unfortunately the course does not drain. Many times as a member I've given up and walked off such is the condition underfoot in the winter months. I feel more warning should be given to those that turn up and pay on the day.

Good course for accuracy

To be honest I had a bit of a mare playing this course, it was very windy and I found more sand than the average 8th army veteran. The fairways are good and the greens excellent and quite fast, the first cut off the fairways can be a bit of a challenge but the rough after it is in my opinion Punitive. If you go in it, forget trying to find your ball. All in all a good day out but if I played there again I would have to pick a calmer day.

Excellent welcome in the pro shop, great tees and greens. Fairways and rough was very sloppy and borderline unplayable - would like to come back again in the summer when there is a bit of run on the ball as the course is wide open and only protected by relatively small greens. Current weekend green fee is ?60 I think which is too much given the state of the fairways but understand a pricing structure has to be in place by the season we are in - weather has been appalling the last few weeks!

Nice Course. Worth a play.

The Astbury is a nice course although the front 9 is very open and would not like to play it on a windy day. Several holes where you are hitting blind so guessing on your drive as to where to try and place it. A couple of marker poles but a couple just hit and hope. Fair play to the greenkeeping team as its in very good condition despite everywhere needing a good soak to dampen the grass down and get some green back on the course. An excellent 18th hole to finish across the water. Overall an excellent course and would deffo play this again.
