What the club says: Sitting on 350 acres of traditional English country side in the heart of Shropshire, The Astbury (formerly known as Astbury Hall) has a distinctive story behind its development as the brain child of K.K. Downing, lead guitarist of Grammy award-winning heavy metal band, Judas Priest. The 18 hole golf course opened to the public on September 15 2010, completing K.K. Downing’s first course design. In December 2013 Darren Clarke became the Tour Professional for the Astbury where he represent the company all over the world. The course was recognised for outstanding Golf Architecture in the 2014 UK Property awards - showing the impressive vision of K.K Downing.
The course Combining natural features, tactically placed bunkers and beautifully manicured playing surfaces subtly contoured to USGA standards, the course measures over 6500 yards and promises to be a test to golfers of all abilities.

One decent hole
Course is boring. One decent hole with the 18th. Now closed due to administration. Won’t be back

Average
I don’t understand what everyone is raving about. Course is very average and amateur ish. Like it’s has 16 holes and they forgot two so put some really short par 3’s together. Wouldn’t return

Confused
Open or closed sort the place out man its a nice track but its way to short for the modern game to be a contender or to be up there with the best around the midlands

Not Again
If it is updated they need to seriously lengthen the place and make it more interesting

Closed again
Course is again closed now until 2020 due to major re developmentHope it is still good when reopens

BGA Tour
Having never played here before and reading mixed reviews, i have to say Astbury Hall is a brilliant golf course, very maintained and extremely picturesque. the fairways were in great condition and the greens were excellent, played on a wednesday for 25quid, you wont get a better course for that money anywhere, anyone that gives this course a bad review has obviously had a bad round and is a huge pile of stinking cow dung. Will definitely be returning to mub it again soon.Love the BGA

Amazing
Absolutely stunning views and the course is beautiful.

Middle of the Road
In the Middle of Nowhere but I’d heard a fair bit about it, course played really short, I know it’s running miles but even so it’s a short track, couple of nice holes but most very average, flew round hardly a golfer to be seen, not sure how it’s the top of the Midlands

Exceptional
In a wilderness on brown burnt off courses Astbury is like an oasis, I couldn’t believe the course conditions, it’s amazing. This has to be the finest course for its money within 50 milesTo the previous reviewer, if you have never liked it why play again? Sounds like you have an axe to grind

Confused
Dont get this place, never really liked it from when it opened and I just feel it has gone down hill over the past year or so.

Excellent
Played last September and upon return it’s just as good, greens fast and true, and fairways are like carpets. Excellent value for money and feels like it should cost more to play

Great Course
Played here recently with my husband. Lovely course, thrououghly enjoyed it. Challenging course, beautiful scenary!

The club just lacks atmosphere. There can't have been more than 5 groups on the entire course which for a bank holiday would concern me as an owner. But for us made it like millionaires golf. Good deal with tee off times but definitely wouldn't pay the 45 pounds booking direct.

Astbury reopens
The Course has reopened after a period of administration, course excellent and beautifully manicured as always, not busy when we played but I expect as soon as the word of mouth gets around it will be busy again. Cannot fault Course or service
