Nice Course. Worth a play.
The Astbury is a nice course although the front 9 is very open and would not like to play it on a windy day. Several holes where you are hitting blind so guessing on your drive as to where to try and place it. A couple of marker poles but a couple just hit and hope. Fair play to the greenkeeping team as its in very good condition despite everywhere needing a good soak to dampen the grass down and get some green back on the course. An excellent 18th hole to finish across the water. Overall an excellent course and would deffo play this again.Reviewer Rating

A bit wet but great value
Played the course on 17/02/2025, teed off just before 9am for £20 and had no one in front or behind the whole way round. Not the best draining course but the fairways weren’t too bad and the greens were good for the time of year (they had been hollow tined and sanded but played well). Bunkers for me are the best locally and weren’t affected by the wet weather. Pretty muddy anywhere off the fairways but the rough has been cut back for winter to make it a fairer challenge. All proper tees and greens in play. Think it would struggle after heavy rain in winter but off the back of a few days without too much of a downpour it was well worth the low green fee.Reviewer Rating

Great summer course only.
Lovely fairways and greens in the summer months. However any sort of prolonged rain makes the course unplayable. The greens are immaculate all year round, but unfortunately the course does not drain. Many times as a member I've given up and walked off such is the condition underfoot in the winter months. I feel more warning should be given to those that turn up and pay on the day.Reviewer Rating

want to go back!
played in the mizuno pairs 17jult2023course was in excellent condition - massive watering of the fairways meant they were "fluffy carpet" light rought ok - heavy rough would drive you to drink! (my playing partner lost 3 balls I thing) the greens were immaculate and tricky - a thinking course to get on the right part of the faiway/right part of the green (back of the green downhill put - 3 put!) it was reallly windy and i liked it - the wellcome from the staff at the proshop/turn/bar and the starter was great --- will be back again as would other 3 (all of us first timers) well done---

Open to the Elements
I played this course with my husband and unfortunately it was a very windy day, which probably made the course a lot harder than it would be normally. The course is very open in places and hence there are quite a few bunkers around. Nice greens and fairways the rough just off the fairways is not the easiest to get out of, but the rough after that is vindictive, if your in it you do not have much chance of finding your ball.Reviewer Rating

Good course for accuracy
To be honest I had a bit of a mare playing this course, it was very windy and I found more sand than the average 8th army veteran. The fairways are good and the greens excellent and quite fast, the first cut off the fairways can be a bit of a challenge but the rough after it is in my opinion Punitive. If you go in it, forget trying to find your ball. All in all a good day out but if I played there again I would have to pick a calmer day.Reviewer Rating

Hidden Gem - The Best Shropshire Has to Offer
The Astbury really is a magnificent facility and golf course. Firstly upon driving up to the course you are treated by Astbury hall, a beautiful building which is now host to a well equipped pro shop and fantastic club house, bar and restaurant - all of which are run by a very friendly team. The golf course itself is immaculate, the greens and fairways are the best I have played on in recent memory, and in that time I have played a number of the top100 uk courses.
Each and every hole is different, whether it’s a short par 3 protected by immaculate bunkers, or sweeping par 5s that needs 2 good shots to get anywhere near the green.
On the turn, they have a fantastic half way house serving light bites and drinks which went down a treat with the group.
Thanks to the team, looking forward to playing again soon.

A stunning and unique venue
The Astbury really raises the bar for golf courses across the UK. The layout has developed nicely since reopening last year and the playing surfaces are always in excellent condition with real attention to detail across the whole estate. The shaped tees provide an interesting feature on every hole and there is clever bunker positioning that keeps you thinking all the way round. Set in a stunning location in the Shropshire countryside, this is the course to play in the region, and the clubhouse has to be one of the most impressive in the UK.Reviewer Rating

Worth a Visit.
Played here on the 17th October 22 and would say that it was enjoyable. The flags were in some scary positions. Just miss and boom its gone. Nice holes with lots of approach play having to make sure you hit the green as most holes have a few bunkers short and front of the green.Reviewer Rating

On the whole a good course but I did have some complaints.
1. ?35 for a buggy with no GPS or ball/club cleaner or USB ports.
2. No ball cleaners on tees.
3. No bells on blind holes, and there are several.
Course was not busy so pace of play was not compromised.
Greens were very good and consistent across all 18 holes
Fairways were also good but first cut is too long. I was told that this is deliberate as there are not many hazards on the course.
Some tee boxes also needed cutting
Staff were very friendly.
Halfway house and bar looked very good but I did not use.
There is a putting green and a chipping area.
A couple of practise nets near the 1st Tee.

As Good As Ever?.Well Better Actually
Having not played here for a few years (since before it temporarily closed) I was really looking forward to returning. I wasn't disappointed?..Course was as good as I remember it and the greens were Fantastic. Trees have matured well and the rough even though not overly long is punishing.
Great challenge for all levels of golfer but also playable no matter what level you are at. Nice added additions in practice nets by first tee and the halfway hut (potting shed) where I sampled a lovely coffee and a very tasty bacon roll.
Course held up so well too given the weather we?d had the day before and also at the time i played. Really cannot wait to return. Staff were all very friendly and hospitable .
